NBA 2K24 Summer League: Cavaliers secure comeback win over Bulls

Cleveland remains unbeaten in Las Vegas after knocking off Chicago.

A strong fourth-quarter defensive effort and standout all-around performances from Craig Porter and Isaiah Mobley led the Cleveland Cavaliers to a hard-fought 87-83 victory over the Chicago Bulls in the NBA 2K24 Summer League at Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas on Thursday afternoon.

The Cavaliers opened the game clicking on both ends of the floor, leading to a 29-19 advantage through the first quarter. However, the Bulls eliminated their deficit altogether over the middle periods and took a one-point lead into the final quarter, during which they opened up as much as a seven-point edge. Nevertheless, Cleveland’s 14-3 run over the final 4:23 sealed the rousing comeback victory. 

Porter led the Cavaliers with 22 points, complementing them with eight rebounds, six assists, three steals and one block. Mobley generated an 18-point, 12-rebound double-double that included four assists and two blocks. Rookie second-round pick Emoni Bates turned in 15 points and six boards. Sharife Cooper delivered 11 points, two rebounds and two assists.

Javon Freeman-Liberty paced the Bulls with 18 points, adding three rebounds, two assists and one block. Dalen Terry registered 12 points, five boards, two assists, three steals and one block. Julian Phillips matched Terry’s scoring and also produced two rebounds, one steal and one block. Nate Darling furnished 11 points, three rebounds, one assist, one steal and one block. 

The two teams now await potential opponents in the playoff round, which begins Saturday.
