NBA 2K24 Summer League: Clippers take down Grizzlies

A crisp shooting performance from Xavier Moon and a strong offensive performance from the second unit helped the LA Clippers to a hard-fought 83-74 win over the Memphis Grizzlies in the NBA 2K24 Summer League at Cox Pavilion on Wednesday afternoon.

The Clippers jumped out to a fast start with a 26-19 lead through one period, and LA still enjoyed a six-point advantage at halftime. The second half was a classic seesaw affair, with the Grizzlies shaving their deficit to one point heading into the final frame before the Clippers stormed back with a 26-18 edge in the fourth quarter to record the nine-point victory. LA got a significant boost from its bench, which outscored Memphis’ reserves by a 28-9 margin.

Moon led the Clippers with 16 points on 58.3 percent shooting (including 66.7 percent from distance), complementing his strong scoring effort with four rebounds, two assists, two steals and one block. Brodric Thomas recorded 14 points, one rebound, one assist and two steals. Jason Preston generated a 13-point, 10-rebound double-double that included five assists. Rookie first-round pick Kobe Brown supplied a 12-point, 10-rebound double-double that included one assist, two steals and two blocks.

Kenneth Lofton Jr. paced the Grizzlies with another outstanding Summer League effort consisting of 24 points and 10 rebounds, complementing them with two assists and two steals. Jake LaRavia delivered 22 points, five rebounds, two assists and one block. Nathan Hoover poured in 11 points.

Both teams are back in action Friday night, with the Clippers taking on the Philadelphia 76ers and the Grizzlies facing the Los Angeles Lakers.
