A dominant all-around effort from second-year big Tyrese Martin fueled the Atlanta Hawks to a 99-93 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves in the NBA 2K24 Summer League at Thomas and Mack Center on Wednesday afternoon.

A hotly contested first quarter finished with the Hawks holding a 21-20 lead, and Atlanta was able to extend that advantage to 10 points during an impressive second period on both ends of the floor. However, the Timberwolves flipped the script in the third to whittle their deficit down to one point, but Mfiondu Kabengele and rookie second-round pick Mouhamed Gueye each drained two critical late free throws to allow the Hawks to escape with a narrow victory.

Brandon Williams led the Timberwolves with 23 points, complementing them with four assists, three rebounds and one steal. Rookie second-round pick Leonard Miller delivered 18 points, six boards, two assists and three blocks. DJ Carton tallied 13 points, seven assists, one rebound, two blocks and one steal. Josh Minott managed 12 points, eight rebounds, one assist, three steals and two blocks. Feron Hunt registered 11 points, three assists, two rebounds, one steal and one block.

Martin scored a game-high 25 points, which he supplemented with nine boards and three assists. Seth Lundy posted 14 points, five rebounds, one assist and one block. Kobe Bufkin and Kabengele generated 13 points apiece while bringing down six and five rebounds, respectively. Gueye finished with 11 points, six rebounds, three assists, two blocks and one steal.

Both teams are back in action Thursday night, with the Hawks taking on the Philadelphia 76ers in an afternoon tilt and the Timberwolves facing the Sacramento Kings in an evening clash.
