2024 California Classic Summer League: Ellis duo sparks Kings past Spurs

SACRAMENTO — Boogie Ellis poured in a game-high 17 points to lead the Sacramento Kings 1 to an 85-61 win over the San Antonio Spurs in the California Classic Summer League on Sunday at Golden 1 Center.

The game got off to a competitive start, as the Kings 1 held a 23-19 advantage after one quarter. They picked up momentum in the second and pushed ahead by as many as 14 before settling on a 10-point cushion by halftime. The Spurs did not have any answers in the third, as the deficit expanded 13 points heading into the final frame. The Kings 1 turned up the heat again in the fourth and charged to the finish, closing out the 24-point win.

Ellis paced the Kings by shooting 6-for-10, including 3-for-6 from deep in 21 minutes off the bench. Keon Ellis and Jo Lual-Acuil Jr. also logged 13 points each, while Mason Jones tallied 11 points, six rebounds, five assists, a steal and a block.

Harrison Ingram and Tyson Ward logged 11 points each to lead the way for the Spurs. Jamaree Bouyea followed up with 10 points, six rebounds and four assists, while Nathan Mensah chipped in five points, seven rebounds and three blocks.

Both sides will be back in action on Tuesday, as the Spurs clash with Team China, while the Kings 1 take on the Hornets.
