All-Star Weekend got started with the Warriors going out into the Charlotte community as part of the NBA Cares and Jr. NBA initiatives. Curry joined hundreds of youth on the court a Jr. NBA event in the Charlotte Convention Center to get them active and get tips from the pros to elevate their game. As Stephen said, it means everything to him to give back to the Charlotte community because “this is where I learned how to play the game, in a community that supported me and my family growing up.”

While Stephen Curry was away, Thompson would… paint! Along with other players, league executives, and volunteers, he took part in Friday’s NBA Cares All-Star Day of Service. Thompson played a part in working with to help revitalize the Renaissance West area of Charlotte. Between painting and some carpentry, he was kept quite busy.

Curry’s busy day continued, as he later united with his family for the official reopening of the recreation center that he and his brother, Seth, grew up playing at: the Carole Hoefener Center in Charlotte. The event celebrated a "seven-figure commitment" from the Stephen and Ayesha Curry Family Foundation and other partners to revitalize the 20-year old center, one of the largest projects of its kind. Besides having fun with the local community, fans got to see exactly where Stephen got his skills from.

To Curry and Thompson, these events were not just about being at the All-Star Game and the associated events. According to Curry “it’s nice to be able to give back [to the community] in this magnitude.”

Saturday got started with media day for the players. Kevin Durant, perhaps channeling his inner fortune teller and seeing what was to come in the All-Star Game, let us know what he thought.

Curry perhaps had the most amazing interview of the day. The question he was asked: “what was your card?” Definitely not your average press conference.

We took a trip down memory lane with Thompson at his interview session. When asked about his favorite movies, he could not help but bring up the Michael Jordan classic Space Jam.

The weekend heated up for the Warriors when Curry took the floor for the Three-Point Contest. Things were looking good from the start for Curry as he took the lead in the first round of the competition with a score of 27.

Curry’s 24 points in the second and final round were not enough to beat the red-hot Joe Harris from the Brooklyn Nets though. Though he did not walk away with the win, Curry still put on a show for his hometown of Charlotte.

Even watching the Slam Dunk contest, Curry had to have a little fun on the sidelines. He took us on a trip down memory lane when he brought out a jacket similar to one he wore decades ago on the sidelines with his father.

And finally, the big event was here: the 2019 All-Star Game. The Dubs rolled up in style on Sunday, ready to have some fun in their big night.

Warriors fans were treated to a show on Sunday when all three Warriors took the floor together in the 2019 All-Star Game. Even early-on, more signs were pointing to Durant having himself an impressive night.

But not to be out-done, Curry had himself some fun in the game as well… with a little help from his captain Giannis Antetokounmpo.

It could not be helped: the Splash Brothers had to have a little fun with each other. Unfortunately, it may have been more fun for Curry than Thompson.

Like we hinted, things were going well for Durant all game, and he was confident something special was going to happen. Sure enough: it did. He was named the All-Star Game MVP. Durant now joins an elite group of only three other Warriors to be receive the honor: Paul Arizin, Wilt Chamberlin, and Rick Barry.

Durant got to share his thoughts and feeling on the honor, as well as give us some insight to how the trash talking may go.

And there it was: 2019 All-Star Weekend. The Dubs were everywhere, bringing similes and fun to everyone in Charlotte.

To say that Stephen Curry had a blast with All-Star Weekend taking place in his hometown of Charlotte would be a massive understatement. Curry was part of some of the top highlights of NBA All-Star Weekend, and here’s an attempt at sharing the top 10.

FINISHING STRONG
Curry had an off-night – by Curry standards from long range – but he did score the final basket on one of the top dunks of the All-Star Game.

PREGAME SMASH
Perhaps we should have saw Curry’s dunk coming, as he threw down some pretty vicious slams pregame.

ASSIST OF THE NIGHT
Curry’s dunk to end the game didn’t technically count as an assist, but this one to Giannis Antetokounmpo sure did.

4-POINT PLAY ON KLAY
Curry made four 3-pointers during the All-Star Game, and there’s no doubt he’ll most remember the one on which he was fouled by fellow Splash Brother Klay Thompson. The shot was great, but the reaction was even better.

DEFENDING KLAY
That Curry-Thompson battle wasn’t the first of the night, as Curry took great pride in defending in his Warrior teammate earlier in the game.

RESPECT FROM A LEGEND
At halftime, Curry caught up with 2016 Hall of Fame inductee Allen Iverson. One of the most lethal scorers in NBA history, Iverson embraced Curry and told the Dubs guard that he’s in his all-time ‘top five’ of greatest players in the game.

HE GOT IT FROM HIS MOMMA
One would probably assume that Stephen Curry’s range has something to do with his father being a longtime NBA player known for his 3-point range, but this shot from his mother, Sonya Curry, suggests otherwise. The shot, and the reaction to it, speaks volumes.

CURRY WINS BET WITH BROTHER
Among the competitors in the MTN DEW 3-Point Contest were the Curry brothers, Stephen and Seth. The two had a bet, as the loser between them would have to pay for all family tickets for whenever they play against each other for the rest of their careers. Seth got 16, and Steph beat that and then with a hot end to his round.

THROWING IT BACK TO 1992
When Dell Curry competed in the 3-point contest in 1992, his almost 4-year-old son watched courtside, wearing a multi-color windbreaker that just screamed 1990s. On Saturday, while watching the dunk contest, Curry watched courtside while wearing a multi-colored jacket that screamed 1990s.

JR. NBA DAY
One of the great All-Star Weekend traditions is giving back to the community in and around the host city. With this one taking place in Curry’s hometown, giving back and spending time with youth was that much more meaningful for Curry and his entire family.

Kevin Durant caught fire in the fourth quarter and helped lead Team LeBron to a 178-164 victory over Team Giannis, and more importantly it gave he and teammate Klay Thompson some bragging rights over Curry, who was the first pick by Team Giannis.

Durant finished with 31 points, shooting 10-for-15 from the floor and 6-for-9 on 3-pointers. That effort was good enough for the two-time NBA Finals MVP to win his second All-Star Game MVP – he won it for the first time as a member of the Thunder in 2012.

This being the second year of the NBA All-Star draft era, which replaced the traditional West vs. East format, Durant and Thompson suited up for Team LeBron, while Curry took the floor with Team Giannis.

Team LeBron’s highest scorers were a pair of Warriors. Durant had 31 points and Thompson came through with 20 points off the bench. Both Thompson and Durant had six 3-pointers, as the game had a combined 166 3-point attempts, a new All-Star record, and 52 makes.

Playing in his hometown of Charlotte, Stephen Curry came through with several incredible highlights on the way to a 17-point effort that also included nine rebounds and a game-high seven assists. On the receiving end of a good number of Curry’s assists was team captain Giannis Antetokounmpo, who had 38 points and 11 rebounds.

Team Giannis jumped out to the early lead, matching an All-Star Game record with 53 points in the first quarter. Curry knocked down two of his four 3-pointers in the second quarter and Team Giannis went into the half up 95-82.

The lead would grow to 20 in the third quarter before Team LeBron got back into the game behind some stellar 3-point shooting from Thompson, Bradley Beal and Oakland native Damian Lillard. Thompson knocked down a pair of 3-pointers during a 25-6 run, and by the time the quarter ended, Team LeBron was in front 132-131.

Curry delivered some thrilling moments in the fourth quarter, first making a four-point play at the expense of Thompson.

And capped the night with one of the game’s top dunks.

But the fourth quarter belonged to Durant and Team LeBron. The game’s MVP finished just as strong as he started - he made his first four shots and had 10 points in the first quarter. And in the final period, he knocked down three 3-pointers as Team LeBron outscored Team Giannis 96-69 in the second half and 46-33 in the final quarter.

The game brought an end to an eventful weekend for the NBA. From community work in Charlotte to Curry’s runner-up performance in Saturday’s 3-Point Contest to the crown jewel of All-Star Weekend, the Dubs did it big in the Queen City.
