Player Bio

Thomas was born Feb. 7, 1989 in Tacoma, Washington. He's the son of James Thomas and Tina Baldtrip, and he was named after Hall of Fame point guard Isiah Thomas. He attended Curtis Senior High School in University Place, Washington through his junior year. As a junior, he averaged 31.2 points per game. He also attended South Kent School in South Kent, Connecticut and graduated from the prep school in 2008. For college, he attended the University of Washington. There, he would be named to the All-Pac-12 First Team in both 2010 and 2011. He was also named Pac-12 Tournament Most Outstanding Player both seasons. That was after being named Pac-12 Freshman of the Year. Thomas' No. 2 jersey is retired by the Huskies. He entered the NBA Draft following his junior campaign and was selected 60th overall by the Kings in 2011. Thomas made an immediate impact in his freshman campaign with Washington, starting 34 of 35 games and leading the Huskies to a 26-9 record. He paced the team with per-game averages of 15.5 points and 2.6 assists while also contributing 1.1 steals per contest. Thomas' excellence that season resulted in multiple honors, including the Pac-12 Freshman of the Year Award and a spot on the All Pac-12 Second Team. He continued to post outstanding numbers as a sophomore, raising his scoring average to 16.9 points per contest and dishing out 3.2 assists per game. Thomas earned All Pac-12 First Team honors after the season and was named the Pac-12 Tournament Most Outstanding Player. He repeated both feats in his junior season, taking his game to the next level by posting career-high per-game averages of 6.1 assists and 1.3 steals while scoring 16.8 points per game. Thomas also registered his best shooting percentages as a senior, hitting 44.5% of his field goals and 34.9% of his three-point attempts. Behind Thomas' outstanding play, the Huskies qualified for the NCAA Tournament in each of his three seasons. The 5'8" guard continued to shine in the postseason, posting per-game averages of 15.9 points, 6.0 assists, 1.4 three-pointers and 1.6 steals in seven Tournament games.
