Bill Laimbeer is the Pistons’ all-time leading rebounder.

The Detroit Pistons have made 42 playoff appearances and won three championships in their franchise’s history. They have also had some of the best players in league history to don their uniform. Let’s highlight their top five all-time leading rebounders.

 1. Bill Laimbeer, 9,430 Rebounds

Laimbeer rarely missed games. He appeared in at least 79 games in all but his final season in the league, playing in all 82 games seven times. Known for his toughness, Laimbeer averaged at least 10.1 rebounds per game in each of his first seven full seasons with the Pistons. He made four All-Star teams during his career and averaged 10.1 rebounds over 937 career games with the Pistons.

2. Andre Drummond, 8,199 Rebounds

Drummond began his career with the Pistons, coming in fourth place in Rookie of the Year voting in 2012-13. After that, he went on a streak of seven straight seasons in which he averaged at least 13.2 rebounds per game. He led the league in rebounds per game four times, including when he averaged 16.0 rebounds during the 2017-18 season. In 591 career games with the Pistons, Drummond averaged an eye-popping 13.9 rebounds.

3. Bob Lanier, 8,063 Rebounds

Lanier made seven All-Star teams as a member of the Pistons and finished inside the top 10 in MVP voting four times. He began his career by playing at least 80 games in each of his first four seasons. His best production on the boards came during the 1972-73 season when he averaged 14.9 rebounds per game. After his rookie season, he averaged at least 11.3 rebounds per game in the next seven seasons.

4. Ben Wallace, 7,264 Rebounds

Wallace racked up plenty of awards during his Hall of Fame career. He made four All-Star teams, was on six All-Defensive teams and won the Defensive Player of the Year Award four times. Beginning in the 2000-01 campaign, he produced a streak of five straight seasons averaging at least 12.2 rebounds per game. He led the league in rebounds two times, including when he averaged 15.4 rebounds during the 2002-03 season. Over 655 career games with the Pistons, he averaged 11.1 rebounds. 

5. Dennis Rodman, 6,299 Rebounds

Rodman spent the first seven seasons of his career with the Pistons. He was named Defensive Player of the Year twice and had a streak of five straight seasons in which he played all 82 games. In his final two seasons with the Pistons, he averaged 18.7 and 18.3 rebounds per game, leading the league in both campaigns. Rodman’s career rebound total for the Pistons could have been even higher if he didn’t average fewer than 30 minutes per game in his first four seasons. He averaged at least 39 minutes per game in both of the seasons in which he led the league in rebounds.
