2024 Trade Deadline

Pacers add Doug McDermott in trade with Spurs, 76ers

The veteran sharpshooter is headed to Indiana in a deal with San Antonio and Philadelphia.

Veteran forward Doug McDermott is headed back to Indiana in a deal with San Antonio and Philadelphia.

The Indiana Pacers dealt away one 3-point shooter while adding another: The Pacers pick up Doug McDermott from the San Antonio Spurs for Marcus Morris and a second-round pick, while sending Buddy Hield to the Philadelphia 76ers in exchange for Furkan Korkmaz, a pair of second-round picks and cash.

Sixers get:

  • Buddy Hield (via Pacers)

Pacers get:

  • Furkan Korkmaz (via 76ers)
  • Doug McDermott (via Spurs)
  • 2024 second-round pick (via Raptors)
  • 2029 second-round pick (via Blazers)
  • Cash considerations (via 76ers)

Spurs get:

  • Marcus Morris
  • 2029 second-round pick (via LA Clippers)
  • Cash considerations

What trade means: McDermott should help pick up some of the 3-point production loses by Indiana trading Buddy Hield. The 32-year-old forward, who is a career 41.2% shooter from 3-point land, is averaging just 6.0 points and 1.2 assists over 46 games with San Antonio this season.

This will mark McDermott’s second stint with the Pacers, as he played for Indiana from 2018-21. Before joining San Antonio in 2021-22, McDermott played with the Pacers, Mavericks, Knicks and Thunder and began his NBA career with the Bulls in 2014, where he played for 2 1/2 seasons.

The Spurs receive Morris, who they reportedly plan to waive, and a 2029 2nd-round pick in exchange for McDermott.
