NBA 2K23 Summer League: Trey Murphy III, Pelicans rout Hawks

Game Recap: Pelicans 101, Hawks 73

The New Orleans Pelicans defeated the Atlanta Hawks 101-73 at Cox Pavilion on Monday in the 2022 NBA Summer League.

The Pelicans enjoyed a blistering start and quickly secured a seven-point lead (27-20) at the end of the first quarter. They went ahead to make it a double-digit advantage by the time halftime arrived. Up 16 when the second half began, the Pelicans took a step back and allowed Atlanta to outscore them 20-14 in the third perio. But New Orleans was able to slam the door shut in the fourth, closing things out with an impressive 34-16 finish.

Second-year wing Trey Murphy III was the best player for the Pelicans with 30 points and six rebounds, while Jared Harper ended with 14 points and seven assists. Daeqwon Plowden added 16 points and six boards off the bench.

Only two Hawks players scored in double digits, as both Chaundee Brown Jr. and Justin Tillman ended with 14 points apiece, with the latter doing so off the bench. Sharife Cooper, a standout in Las Vegas last summer, went scoreless after missing all eight of his attempts from the floor.
