Courtesy of Kuzma, all 515 students received a PUMA backpack filled with school supplies donated by the MSE Foundation, the official charity of the Wizards. Kuzma also donated a new book from local bookstore Mahogany Books which was highlighted through the Wizards’ 2021-2022 Black Owned DMV program presented by Capital One.

WASHINGTON, D.C.&nbsp;– The Washington Wizards will host a back-to-school event for the students of Turner Elementary School in Southeast D.C. on Monday, August 22nd.

Courtesy of Wizards forward&nbsp;Kyle Kuzma,&nbsp;all 515 Turner Elementary students will receive a PUMA backpack filled with school supplies donated by&nbsp;Monumental Sports &amp; Entertainment Foundation, the official charity of the Washington Wizards. He will also donate a new book from local bookstore Mahogany Books which was highlighted through the Wizards’ 2021-2022 Black Owned DMV program presented by Capital One. Kuzma will provide students the opportunity to get their back-to-school haircut with a barber onsite.

To celebrate the upcoming school year, DJ Heat, in-game arena host Dennis T, the Wizards Dancers, G-Wiz and alumni&nbsp;Phil Chenier&nbsp;and&nbsp;Michael Adams&nbsp;will all be in attendance. Students will enjoy free activities, such as face painting, balloon artists, magicians and a 360 photobooth. Students, faculty, staff and community members can also color a Turner Elementary banner featuring the Wizards logo that will be hung in the school.&nbsp;

MedStar Health, the official medical team of the Wizards, will be on site promoting Summer Sun Safety Month by providing free SPF 30 sunscreen with their sunscreen tower.&nbsp;Giant’s&nbsp;registered dietitian and licensed nutritionists will also be on-site to share their expertise and answer questions about healthy eating.

Papa Johns&nbsp;will donate a pizza lunch for kids and&nbsp;Giant&nbsp;will provide beverages and additional boxed lunch options.&nbsp;Goodies Frozen Custard &amp; Treats, featured in last season’s Black Owned DMV&nbsp;initiative&nbsp;presented by Capital One, will hand out treats to Turner students.&nbsp;

To top-off the event, Jr. Wizards Basketball will hold clinics while the Wizards Dancers will offer dance lessons.&nbsp;

The Washington Wizards announced their 2022-23 regular season schedule today, with the season opener set for Wednesday, Oct. 19, at Indiana. The 2022-23 Wizards season will be presented by Capital One.

Wizards 2022-23 Schedule Reveal

On Wednesday, the NBA released the full 2022-23 regular season schedule for all 30 teams. For the Wizards, the season will open on the road in Indiana on October 19 before returning to D.C. for a Friday-night matchup with the Bulls on October 21.

Here, we break down Washington’s 82-game schedule by the numbers, including road trips, total miles traveled, back-to-backs, games by month and more.

15 – D.C. fans will have plenty of opportunity to see the Wizards at home in the season’s opening weeks. After playing three of its first four games at Capital One Arena, Washington gets a 15-day stretch without a road game in mid-November. The six-game homestand features matchups against the Mavericks, Jazz, Grizzles, Thunder, Heat and Hornets.

7,112 – The Wizards’ longest road trip of the season, which will cover 7,112 miles round trip, features six games – all against teams in the Western Conference. Spanning from December 14-23, the trip opens in Denver before a Clippers-Lakers back-to-back in Los Angeles – and closes with matchups in Phoenix, Utah and Sacramento.

14 – Washington will play 14 back-to-backs throughout the 2022-23 season, the first of which comes on October 30-31 with a road showdown in Boston before a home matchup with Philadelphia. Washington’s 14 back-to-backs, three of which require no travel, come in just above league average. The other 29 teams play an average 13.3 back-to-backs.

35,000 – Over the course of the season, the Wizards will travel roughly 35,000 miles in total. Judged only against fellow Eastern Conference teams, the number comes in 3,000 miles below average.

18 – The Wizards will play 18 games on Fridays, the most of any single day of the week. 11 of those matchups will be held at Capital One Arena, starting with the home opener on October 21 against Chicago.

21 – Wizards fans will have plenty of weekend home games to choose from throughout the season. Washington is set to play 21 home games on either Friday (11), Saturday (6) or Sunday (4) – nearly two games above league average.

15 – Washington will play 15 games in November, December and March, tied for its most games in a single month. Of the Wizards’ 15 home games in March, 11 will be played at Capital One Arena.

By the numbers: Breaking down the Wizards’ 2022-23 schedule

The Wizards’ schedule was announced Wednesday afternoon, setting the table for a 2022-23 regular season that will open on October 19 in Indianapolis. In addition to the 41 home games played at Capital One Arena, the Wizards will play a number of games accessible to fans within the Northeast Corridor, including matchups with the Celtics, 76ers, Nets and Knicks. BOSTON CELTICS: October 30 and November 27

Each of the Wizards’ two road matchups with the Celtics come in the first 20 games of the season. First, Washington heads to Boston on October 27 for their sixth game of the season, opening up a road-home back-to-back that closes with a matchup with the Sixers. Their second matchup will take place on November 27 at 6 p.m. at TD Garden. The Wizards went 2-2 against the defending Eastern Conference champions last season and 1-1 in Boston.

PHILADELPHIA 76ERS: November 2 and March 12

Washington’s first trip to Philadelphia will take place on November 2, just two days after a Halloween-night matchup with the 76ers in D.C. The Wizards and Sixers will face off four times – twice at home and twice on the road – with the second road showdown coming on Sunday, March 12.

BROOKLYN NETS: November 30 and February 4

In their second of four matchups this season, the Wizards head to Brooklyn on November 30 to take on the Nets – and again on February 4. Washington won their last two games against Brooklyn last season to spilt their four-game series. In their most recent meeting, Rui Hachimura scored 20 points off the bench to lead the Wizards to the win.

Wizards fans will have to wait a bit for the team’s first matchup with the Knicks. The two teams won’t meet until January 13 in D.C. and again five days later in New York. Washington returns to NYC to open the final week of the season on April 2 in the teams’ fourth-and-final meeting.

With the Wizards’ schedule for the 2022-23 regular season now released, it’s time to break down some of the season’s exciting matchups. The upcoming campaign is highlighted by an opening slate packed with home games, a post-Christmas back-to-back against two of the league’s best teams, an MLK Day matchup with the defending-champion Warriors and much more.

October 21 vs. Chicago // 7 p.m. // Capital One Arena

After opening the season two days prior in Indiana, the Wizards return to D.C. for their 2022-23 home opener, hosting the Bulls at 7 p.m. at Capital One Arena. Led once again by All-NBA guard DeMar DeRozan and All-Star guard Zach LaVine, the Bulls backcourt is one of the best in the NBA. In two games against Chicago last season, Bradley Beal averaged 26.5 points and 11.5 assists per game, including a career-high 17 dimes in the teams’ matchup on New Years Day.

October 30 at Boston // 6 p.m. // TD Garden

After a stretch of three-of-four at home, Washington takes to the road again for a showdown with the defending Eastern Conference champions. Led by Jayson Tatum, who averaged over 25.0 points per game in both the 2021-22 regular season and postseason, Jaylen Brown, Al Horford and reigning Defensive Player of the Year Marcus Smart – as well newcomers Malcolm Brogdon and Danilo Galinari, the Celtics are primed for another strong season.

The Wizards played well against Boston last season, splitting the season series, including a nine-point win in Boston in the opening week of the campaign. Beal did a little bit of everything in his three games against the Celtics, averaging 24.0 points, 7.3 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 2.3 steals per game.

November 13 vs. Memphis // 6 p.m. // Capital One Arena

One week after a meeting in Memphis, the Wizards and Grizzlies meet again in D.C. on November 13. The two teams split their two-game series last season with each team winning at home. The key for Washington will be slowing down Memphis’ star guard Ja Morant. In the Wizards’ win over the Grizzlies last November, Washington held Morant to 11 points on 4-17 (.235) shooting. Morant, however, had his way with the Wizards defense in their second matchup, scoring 34 points on 15-27 (.556) shooting en route to a win. &nbsp;

December 10 vs. LA Clippers // 7 p.m. // Capital One Arena

Former Wizards guard John Wall, whose tenure in D.C. included five All-Star Game appearances and an All-NBA nod in 2016-17, will his play his first game in front of the Washington fans since he was traded to Houston ahead of the 2020-21 season. Wall returned to Capital One Arena that year with the Rockets, but did not play in front of fans due to health and safety protocols at the venue. Wall signed with the Clippers this offseason, joining All-NBA wings Kawhi Leonard and Paul George to make up one of the NBA’s most dynamic perimeter rotations.

December 14 at Denver // 7 p.m. // Ball Arena

Excluding Beal’s re-signing in July, the biggest move of the Wizards’ offseason was the trade with the Nuggets that brought Monte Morris and Will Barton to D.C. in exchange for veterans Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Ish Smith. All four players will meet their former teams for the first time on December 14 in Denver. Morris, widely regarded as one of the best back-up guards in the NBA over the first four years of his career, moved into a starting role last season and averaged career highs in both points (12.6) and assists (4.4). Barton enters his 11th season in the NBA, having spent the last seven-and-a-half seasons with the Nuggets.

December 27-28 vs. Philadelphia &amp; Phoenix // 7 p.m. // Capital One Arena

Coming off three days of rest, the Wizards host a pair of title contenders on back-to-back nights at Capital One Arena with both games set to tip at 7 p.m. First, Washington hosts Joel Embiid, James Harden and the 76ers in the teams’ third matchup of the season. The Wizards will look to carry over some of their success against the Sixers from last season. Washington won two of the teams’ three meetings, including a three-point win in February led by a 24-point performance from Kyle Kuzma.

Less than 24 hours later, the Wizards take on Chris Paul, Devin Booker and the Suns, who went 2-0 against the Wizards last season on their way to the best regular season record in the NBA.

January 16 vs. Golden State // 3 p.m. // Capital One Arena

In a Martin Luther King, Jr. Day tradition, the Wizards are set to host a matinee matchup in D.C. – this time against the defending-champion Warriors. In last season’s home matchup with the Warriors – who are once again led by Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, Andrew Wiggins and Jordan Poole – the Wizards won by eight in a game played without Curry and Beal. Corey Kispert led the way for Washington with a career-high 25 points, most of which came by way of his career-high six 3-pointers. Kristaps Porzingis (23 points) also crossed the 20-point threshold in the win.

April 9 vs. Houston // 1 p.m. // Capital One Arena

The Wizards wrap up the regular season with a stretch of three home games in six days, capped by a Sunday afternoon showdown with the Rockets. Washington dropped both matchups with Houston last season despite strong showings from Beal (27 points), Kuzma (24 points, nine rebounds) and Porzingis (22 points, 13 rebounds).
