NBA 2K24 Summer League: Bufkin propels Atlanta to narrow victory

The Hawks defeat the 76ers, 99-98. Seth Lundy tallied 16 points and eight rebounds for the Hawks.

A big fourth quarter from No. 15 overall pick Kobe Bufkin led the Atlanta Hawks to a rousing 99-98 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers in the NBA 2K24 Summer League at Cox Pavilion in Las Vegas on Thursday afternoon.

The two teams nearly matched each other bucket for bucket during a first quarter. The 76ers emerged with a one-point lead and managed to extend their advantage to seven points by halftime. A deadlocked third period followed, but Bufkin’s huge fourth quarter made the difference.

The Hawks rookie scored 11 fourth-quarter points, including a game-winning jumper with 12.7 seconds remaining. Atlanta scored 31 points in the fourth period. 

Seth Lundy paced the Hawks with 16 points, complementing them with eight boards, four assists and one block. Bufkin tallied 14 points, seven assists and one block. Brady Manek compiled 13 points, six boards and one assist. Miles Norris totaled 12 points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Rookie second-round pick Mouhamed Gueye and Tyrese Martin generated matching 10-point, one-assist efforts while pulling down eight and three rebounds, respectively.  

Jaden Springer led the 76ers with a game-high 29 points, adding three rebounds and two steals. Terquavion Smith furnished 20 points, three rebounds and three assists.

Javonte Smart turned in 14 points, six assists and five rebounds. Greg Brown II supplied 11 points, seven rebounds and six blocks.

The two teams now await potential opponents in the playoff round, which begins Saturday.
