Monthly NBA awards: Luka Doncic, Victor Wembanyama win honors for February

See the Players, Rookies and Coaches of the Month for games played in February.

Luka Doncic earns West Player of the Month, while Victor Wembanyama wins West Rookie of the Month.

Players of the Month

Dallas Mavericks guard Luka Doncic and Boston Celtics forward-guard Jayson Tatum have been named the NBA Players of the Month for February.

Western Conference: Doncic led Dallas to an 8-3 mark in February while averaging 33.4 points, 9.6 rebounds, 10.3 assists and 1.8 steals per game. In those 11 games, he scored 30 or more eight times, 40 or more three times and had two triple-doubles in February, too. The Mavs (34-27) are currently No. 8 in the West.

Eastern Conference: Tatum was the driving force for Boston as it began the month 0-1 and then ran off nine straight wins. He averaged 27.2 ppg, 8.9 rpg, 6.7 apg. He scored 30 or more points three times in February, including a 41-point game against the Nets on Feb. 13 and a near triple-double vs. the Wizards on Feb. 9 (35 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists). The Celtics (48-12) are currently No. 1 in the East and the NBA.


Rookies of the Month

San Antonio Spurs forward-center Victor Wembanyama and Charlotte Hornets forward Brandon Miller have been named the NBA Rookies of the Month for February.

Western Conference: After a sizzling January, Wembanyama kept his pace up in February with 21.3 points, 10.7 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 3.9 blocks per game in 12 games for the Spurs. He leads both the rookie class and the NBA in blocked shots per game and is one of six players — the rest are All-Stars — averaging more than 20 points and 10 rebounds per game in 2023-24.

Eastern Conference: Charlotte’s young star continued to rise in February. He posted 20.5 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 2.5 apg and 1.8 spg in 13 games as the Hornets went 5-8 (their best record in any month this season). His scoring average has increased in each of the last four months and was No. 2 in total steals (23) among rookies to Wembanyama (24) in February.


Coaches of the Month

Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr and Miami Heat coach Erik Spoelstra have been named the NBA Coaches of the Month for February.

Western Conference: Kerr led the Warriors to an 11-3 mark, which was tops in the Western Conference in February. Golden State is currently 9th in the Western Conference standings.

Eastern Conference: Spoelstra led the Heat to 8-3 record, including 6-1 on the road, during the month of February. Miami had the No. 2 defensive rating in the league for the month. The Heat are currently 7th in the Eastern Conference standings.
