Grizzlies fall to 76ers, 116-96

The Memphis Grizzlies (27-51) fell to the Philadelphia 76ers (43-35) 116-96 Saturday at FedExForum. The 76ers snapped the Grizzlies’ three-game winning streak and extended their winning streak to four games. The Grizzlies and 76ers split the season series 1-1 with the away team winning each game.

Joel Embiid registered a double-double with 30 points and 12 rebounds in 23 minutes to lead the 76ers. Kelly Oubre Jr. tallied 17 points, five rebounds and five assists. Jeff Dowtin Jr. scored 11 points and five rebounds and KJ Martin added 10 points and six rebounds off the bench.

Scotty Pippen Jr. paced the Grizzlies with a career-high with 24 points, five assists and two steals. GG Jackson II scored 17 points and six rebounds. Jordan Goodwin tallied 15 points, four assists and four rebounds. Zavier Simpson contributed a season-high 14 points. Maozinha Pereira notched a double-double with 13 points and a career-high 11 rebounds.

Timmy Allen who signed a 10-day contract with the Grizzlies became the 32nd different player to play for Memphis to play this season, a new single-season NBA record.

The 76ers went on a 10-0 run to close the first half and led 62-42 at halftime. Philadelphia led by as many 27 points in the second half.

The Grizzlies retired Marc Gasol’s No. 33 jersey following the game. Gasol played 11 seasons with the Grizzlies (2008-19) and helped guide the franchise to seven consecutive playoff appearances, including the club’s first postseason victory in 2011 and a trip to the Western Conference Finals in 2013.

The Grizzlies face the San Antonio Spurs on Tuesday, April 9 at 7 p.m. CT at FedExForum to conclude their three-game home stand. The game will be broadcast on Bally Sports Southeast and 92.9 FM ESPN.
