Despite rumors circulating that the Boston Celtics were interested in trading for Anthony Davis, the New Orleans Pelicans have made it clear there’s no realistic offer that can spark a deal.
Pelicans coach Alvin Gentry had this to say regarding any possible move between his star forward and the Eastern Conference’s No. 1 seed.
“I know there’s been rumors about Boston trying to trade for him or whatever,” Gentry told Steve Bulpett of the Boston Herald, “and my response to that is, yeah, we’ll trade him. But they’re going to have to give us the New England Patriots and the two planes that they just bought. … And I don’t think they’re going to do that. So we’re not even thinking about those kind of things.”
Davis’ current deal, which he signed in 2015, doesn’t expire until 2020-2021. There’s a player option for the final year. The 24-year-old is in the midst of another stellar season, averaging 27.2 points, 10.6 rebounds and 2.1 blocks per game.
