2020 All-Star Celebrity Game

2020 All-Star Celebrity Game presented by Ruffles

  • Final Score: Team Wilbon 62, Team Stephen A. 47
  • MVP: Common

CHICAGO — Absolutely nobody from Chicago had an issue with the player who won the MVP award at the Celebrity Game because that player truly represented the Chi.

The rapper, actor and activist known as Common took honors Saturday at Wintrust Arena when he helped Team Wilbon beat Team Stephen A., 62-47. Born and raised in the city, Common was a former ball boy for the Bulls and maintained a love for the sport and the league, providing a consistent presence at NBA games. In the 2010 movie Just Wright, Common played a New Jersey Nets player who was injured in the 2009 NBA All-Star Game.

Also: Common wore jersey No. 25 in the Celebrity Game as a tribute to the late Ben Wilson, the legendary Simeon High School star who was slain as a teenager; Juwan Howard and Derrick Rose wore 25 at times in their basketball careers, also in honor of Wilson.

Common scored 10 points with five rebounds, three assists and four steals to earn MVP through fan voting.
