SAN ANTONIO (May 21, 2024)&nbsp;–&nbsp;The&nbsp;NBA today announced that&nbsp;Victor&nbsp;Wembanyama&nbsp;has been&nbsp;named to&nbsp;the 2023-24 Kia NBA All-Defensive&nbsp;First&nbsp;Team,&nbsp;becoming the first rookie to make first team All-Defense and the youngest in league history.&nbsp;The last NBA rookie named to an all-defensive team is Tim Duncan on the 1997-98 second team.

Wembanyama, who finished&nbsp;second&nbsp;in Defensive Player of the Year voting, averaged 21.4 points, 10.6 rebounds&nbsp;and&nbsp;a league-leading 3.58 blocks&nbsp;to go along with&nbsp;1.24 steals per game in 29.7 minutes. He led the NBA in blocks per game (3.58), total blocks (254) and recorded a 10.01 block percentage, which is the highest of any player since Manute Bol in 1985-86. He’s the first rookie to lead the NBA in blocked shots since Bol and the first rookie to average&nbsp;3.00-or-more&nbsp;blocks since Shawn Bradley in 1993-94.

This season, Wembanyama finished top-10 in total deflections (205), defensive rebounds per game (8.4), total defensive rebounds (594) and defensive rebound percentage (27.3%). The 20-year-old is the first player to average at least 10.0 rebounds, 3.00 blocks and 1.00 steals&nbsp;since Marcus Camby in 2007.

In addition, the 2023-24 Rookie of the Year had an NBA-best 20 games with multiple blocks and multiple steals on the way to 342 combined blocks and steals, becoming the first Rookie with 300+ “stocks” in a season since Shaquille O'Neal in 1992-93. He also joins Scottie Pippen as the only players in NBA history with 300+ blocks/steals and 100+ threes in a single season.

Wembanyama registered eight games with 7-or-more blocks, the most by a rookie since David Robinson. Among those eight, on Feb. 12 at Toronto, Wembanyama&nbsp;blocked a career-best 10 shots, including 6&nbsp;shots in the third quarter, the most in a quarter by any player in 2023-24 and tied for the most blocks in a quarter by a rookie all-time.&nbsp;In back-to-back nights in Sacramento and Los Angeles on Feb. 22-23, he joined Michael Jordan as the second player in league history to have 5 steals and 5 blocks in consecutive games.&nbsp;

SAN ANTONIO (May 20, 2024) – The NBA today announced that Victor Wembanyama has been unanimously selected to the 2023-24 Kia NBA All-Rookie First Team. Wembanyama becomes the 12th player in Spurs franchise history to be named All-Rookie and the first to receive First-Team honors since Kawhi Leonard in 2011-12. The 2023-24 NBA Rookie of the Year appeared in 71 games (71 starts), averaging 21.4 points, 10.6 rebounds, a league-leading 3.58 blocks to go with 1.24 steals in 29.7 minutes, leading all rookies in scoring, rebounds and blocks per game. Wembanyama scored in double figures in 68-of-71 games, including 41 with 20+ points, six 30-point games and one 40-point game. He pulled down 10+ rebounds 44 times, recorded double-digit assists once and 10+ blocks once on his way to 43 double-doubles and two triple-doubles. Wembanyama registered four games with 30+ points, 15+ rebounds and 5+ assists, which is the most games by a rookie since Sidney Wicks in 1971 and tied for the third-most all time among rookies. He became the fifth player to have six games with 25+ points, 10+ rebounds, 5+ assists and 5+ blocks in a single season, joining Shaquille O’Neal (2000-01), Hakeem Olajuwon (1979-80), David Robinson (1994-95) and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (5x). And in a display of his all-around game, the All-Rookie forward finished the season with 26 games where he recorded 20+ points and at least one block, steal, assist and made three-pointer, the most by a rookie all-time. Wembanyama joins Chet Holmgren (Oklahoma City Thunder), Brandon Miller (Charlotte Hornets), Jaime Jaquez (Miami Heat) and Brandin Podziemski (Golden State Warriors) on the 2023-24 Kia NBA All-Rookie First Team.

SAN ANTONIO (May 13, 2024) –&nbsp;Spurs Sports Academy is announcing their 2024 Spurs Summer Basketball Camps and inviting youth athletes to register in San Antonio and Austin. Presented by Gatorade, this fun and competitive basketball learning experience is ideal for children who want to learn the basics of basketball or are looking to improve their skills. Led by a team of experienced and skilled coaches, the&nbsp;Spurs Summer Basketball Camps&nbsp;are open to children ages 6 to 18 and will help athletes hone their basketball skills while experiencing daily Spurs values and character development conversations.&nbsp;To build a safe and supportive environment, on-site athletic trainers from Methodist Healthcare System will also be available to support the campers’ well-being. This collaborative approach supports their overall development, allowing the athletes to focus on improving their skills both on and off the basketball court.

Select Spurs Summer Basketball Camps include special guest appearances with current and former Spurs players, coaches, or Coyote. As part of registration, each camper will receive a digital memory that includes a picture of the athlete with a Spurs championship trophy, as well as a Spurs Camp team photo featuring their teammates and camp coach.

The Spurs will tip off against the Indiana Pacers on Thursday, Jan. 23 and Saturday, Jan. 25, 2025, marking the first time the NBA will play two regular-season games in the French capital in the same season. The 2024-25 Spurs season is presented by H-E-B.&nbsp;

SAN ANTONIO (April 3, 2024) –&nbsp;Spurs Give is partnering with Fiesta® San Antonio to host the annual Fiesta de&nbsp;los&nbsp;Spurs Run on Saturday, April 27 at 6:30 p.m. The run takes place before the&nbsp;Fiesta® Flambeau and gives participants the opportunity to run or walk a 3.1-mile parade route along the streets of a cheering crowd.&nbsp;Registration is now open online.

The Fiesta de&nbsp;los&nbsp;Spurs Run encourages runners to wear costumes, Fiesta attire or their best Spurs gear for a chance to win a prize in a pre-race costume contest. There's no specific theme, so runners can choose their own creative outfits.

Following the run, a post-race celebration will be held at Piazza Italia Park with food and drinks specials, live music, special guest appearances, photo opportunities and chances to win exclusive memorabilia.&nbsp;

Proceeds from the race will support funding the Play SA program through Spurs Give. Spurs Give works to strengthen and serve the community through impactful programming, player engagements and community investments that enrich the lives of youth and those around them. Fans are invited to cheer on the Silver and Black as they wrap up their season with a contest against the Detroit Pistons, tipping off at 2:30 p.m. Fan Appreciation Night will feature multiple giveaways and activations to celebrate the San Antonio fanbase, including a full arena T-shirt giveaway which features illustrations of Coyote hand-drawn by Spurs players.
