SAN ANTONIO (May 21, 2024)&nbsp;–&nbsp;The&nbsp;NBA today announced that&nbsp;Victor&nbsp;Wembanyama&nbsp;has been&nbsp;named to&nbsp;the 2023-24 Kia NBA All-Defensive&nbsp;First&nbsp;Team,&nbsp;becoming the first rookie to make first team All-Defense and the youngest in league history.&nbsp;The last NBA rookie named to an all-defensive team is Tim Duncan on the 1997-98 second team.

Wembanyama, who finished&nbsp;second&nbsp;in Defensive Player of the Year voting, averaged 21.4 points, 10.6 rebounds&nbsp;and&nbsp;a league-leading 3.58 blocks&nbsp;to go along with&nbsp;1.24 steals per game in 29.7 minutes. He led the NBA in blocks per game (3.58), total blocks (254) and recorded a 10.01 block percentage, which is the highest of any player since Manute Bol in 1985-86. He’s the first rookie to lead the NBA in blocked shots since Bol and the first rookie to average&nbsp;3.00-or-more&nbsp;blocks since Shawn Bradley in 1993-94.

This season, Wembanyama finished top-10 in total deflections (205), defensive rebounds per game (8.4), total defensive rebounds (594) and defensive rebound percentage (27.3%). The 20-year-old is the first player to average at least 10.0 rebounds, 3.00 blocks and 1.00 steals&nbsp;since Marcus Camby in 2007.

In addition, the 2023-24 Rookie of the Year had an NBA-best 20 games with multiple blocks and multiple steals on the way to 342 combined blocks and steals, becoming the first Rookie with 300+ “stocks” in a season since Shaquille O'Neal in 1992-93. He also joins Scottie Pippen as the only players in NBA history with 300+ blocks/steals and 100+ threes in a single season.

Wembanyama registered eight games with 7-or-more blocks, the most by a rookie since David Robinson. Among those eight, on Feb. 12 at Toronto, Wembanyama&nbsp;blocked a career-best 10 shots, including 6&nbsp;shots in the third quarter, the most in a quarter by any player in 2023-24 and tied for the most blocks in a quarter by a rookie all-time.&nbsp;In back-to-back nights in Sacramento and Los Angeles on Feb. 22-23, he joined Michael Jordan as the second player in league history to have 5 steals and 5 blocks in consecutive games.&nbsp;

Wembanyama becomes the 12th player in Spurs franchise history to be named All-Rookie and the first to receive First-Team honors since Kawhi Leonard in 2011-12. The 2023-24 NBA Rookie of the Year appeared in 71 games (71 starts), averaging 21.4 points, 10.6 rebounds, a league-leading 3.58 blocks to go with 1.24 steals in 29.7 minutes, leading all rookies in scoring, rebounds and blocks per game. Wembanyama scored in double figures in 68-of-71 games, including 41 with 20+ points, six 30-point games and one 40-point game. He pulled down 10+ rebounds 44 times, recorded double-digit assists once and 10+ blocks once on his way to 43 double-doubles and two triple-doubles. Wembanyama registered four games with 30+ points, 15+ rebounds and 5+ assists, which is the most games by a rookie since Sidney Wicks in 1971 and tied for the third-most all time among rookies. He became the fifth player to have six games with 25+ points, 10+ rebounds, 5+ assists and 5+ blocks in a single season, joining Shaquille O’Neal (2000-01), Hakeem Olajuwon (1979-80), David Robinson (1994-95) and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (5x). And in a display of his all-around game, the All-Rookie forward finished the season with 26 games where he recorded 20+ points and at least one block, steal, assist and made three-pointer, the most by a rookie all-time. Wembanyama joins Chet Holmgren (Oklahoma City Thunder), Brandon Miller (Charlotte Hornets), Jaime Jaquez (Miami Heat) and Brandin Podziemski (Golden State Warriors) on the 2023-24 Kia NBA All-Rookie First Team.

The Spurs will tip off against the Indiana Pacers on Thursday, Jan. 23 and Saturday, Jan. 25, 2025, marking the first time the NBA will play two regular-season games in the French capital in the same season. The 2024-25 Spurs season is presented by H-E-B.&nbsp;

SAN ANTONIO (April 2, 2024)&nbsp;–&nbsp;The&nbsp;NBA today announced that&nbsp;Victor&nbsp;Wembanyama&nbsp;has been&nbsp;named&nbsp;the&nbsp;Western Conference Kia Rookie&nbsp;of&nbsp;the Month&nbsp;for games played in March.&nbsp;This marks his third straight Rookie of the Month honor, making him the first Spur since Tim Duncan to capture the award three months in a row. Kia became a partner of the San Antonio Spurs during the 2023-24 season.

Wembanyama&nbsp;appeared in&nbsp;12 games (all starts) for the Spurs in March, averaging 21.2 points, 10.5 rebounds, a league-leading 3.83 blocks and 1.17 steals in 31.7 minutes to lead all&nbsp;rookies&nbsp;in scoring, rebounding and blocks for the month.

In an overtime win vs. Brooklyn on March 17, he finished with 33 points, 15 rebounds 7 blocks and 7 assists,&nbsp;joining Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (three times), Charles Barkley (1986) and Joel Embiid (2017) as the only players with 30 points, 15 rebounds, 7 assists and 7 blocks in a game.&nbsp;

During the month, he posted eight double-doubles including a season-high 40 points, 20 rebounds and 7 assists vs. the Knicks on March 29, becoming the first rookie with 40+ points and 20+ rebounds since Shaquille O’Neal (1992-93).

The month also included five 30-plus-point games from Wembanyama, which is most for a rookie in a calendar month since LeBron James in Dec. 2003.

SAN ANTONIO (March 6, 2024)&nbsp;– The San Antonio Spurs today unveiled a special Spurs x Austin themed mural at Wanderlust Wine Co., created by local Austin artist&nbsp;Adrian Landon Brooks, in celebration of their upcoming Spurs Week and I-35 Series, presented by Alienware and X World Wallet. The Spurs are also releasing a limited number of ticket packages for the Sunday I-35 Series game against the Brooklyn Nets which will include a T-shirt featuring a portion of the mural, while supplies last.

The outdoor mural is a tribute to Spurs fans in Austin and was recently completed at Wanderlust Wine Co.’s downtown location and depicts a collage of different icons and patterns representing the Spurs and symbolizing the motion and movement of basketball. Muralist Brooks is an Austin-based painter and creator who has exhibited his work across the U.S. and internationally. The mural will remain up through the remainder of the Spurs 2023-24 season and fans are encouraged to take a photo and tag @Spurs and @Austin_Spurs using #SpursGetMoody for a chance to be featured on the team’s social channels. During Spurs Week, the Spurs will host a pop-up at the mural on Wednesday, March 13 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., where fans can stop by for free to enjoy a DJ, prizes and photo opportunities.&nbsp;
