How do I get and use an HD antenna?

Antennas are widely available for purchase via Amazon, Best Buy and other retailers. Installation and setup is simple and requires three steps:

  • Push menu or input on your TV remote
  • Go to Channel or TV setup
  • Select scan or auto-scan or similar.

Complete information on accessing these Friday games, including how to use an HD antenna and scan for channels is available at:

Why are you doing this?

Circumstances within the sports broadcasting environment have led to an agreement between the NBA and Diamond Sports Group (owner of Bally Sports) to allow Bally’s teams the opportunity to broadcast a limited number of games this season on free over-the-air local TV stations with the use of an antenna. The Thunder has chosen to take advantage of this opportunity for the eight remaining regular-season Friday night games, working with Oklahoma-owned Griffin Media, in order to provide more of our fans the ability to view our broadcasts of those games.

Why not put all games on these channels for free?

The Thunder’s agreement with Bally Sports remains in effect and we will continue to broadcast all other non-Friday games via Bally Sports and Bally Sports+ for the rest of this regular season. Circumstances within the sports broadcasting environment have created an opportunity where the NBA and Bally’s are allowing us to broadcast a small number of games on free, local over-the-air stations through the use of an HD antenna. We’re pleased to have this opportunity to expand our reach and make these games more available to our fans across Oklahoma.

The eight Thunder Friday Night games will be on COX (Ch. 7 OKC, Ch. 53 Tulsa) and cable outlets in Lawton, Joplin, and Wichita. In OKC, KSBI can be found on DirecTV and DISH (Ch. 52 on both). At least two of the Friday games will also be shown on Tulsa’s CW station, Ch. 19.

Check this page for complete channel information.

Will these games be on YouTube TV or HULU or the other virtual providers?

Due to contractual issues, they will not be available via YouTube TV or Hulu.

Will these eight game broadcasts still be available throughout the region outside of Oklahoma as normal? (Arkansas, Kansas, Nebraska, Missouri)

Over-the-air rights for Thunder broadcasts outside of the Oklahoma City and Tulsa markets are subject to NBA approval based on league broadcast territory rules.  The Thunder has partnered with stations in Lawton, Wichita, and Joplin to carry the games. Complete channel information is available at okcthunder.com/watchlocal.

Can I watch the games on NBA League Pass?

These games will be available on League Pass, but by NBA rules will be blacked out within 75 miles of Oklahoma City. It’s advised to subscribe to the digital version of League Pass, available on the NBA app.

What happens to Thunder broadcasts next season?

How and where the Thunder and other Bally’s teams will broadcast next season and beyond remains uncertain due to the bankruptcy process involving Diamond Sports Group which owns Bally Sports. The Thunder continues to examine all options that might become available, with a commitment to continue to provide high-quality TV broadcasts to as many of our fans as possible.

Why are these eight games not on Ch. 9 in OKC and Ch. 6 in Tulsa, since they are also owned by Griffin Media?

Channels 9 and 6 are both CBS affiliates, so those channels are not available. We are fortunate that Griffin Media has other channels like KSBI-52 and News on 6 Now available.

Who will be calling the games on these Friday night broadcasts?

The Thunder’s broadcast team of Chris Fisher, Michael Cage, Nick Gallo, and Paris Lawson will be in their normal roles, including hosting pregame and postgame shows for each of the broadcasts.
