He was selected by the Los Angeles Lakers with the seventh overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft. Randle spent his first four seasons In the NBA with the Lakers (2014-18). In 238 career games with the Lakers, Randle averaged 27.8 minutes, 13.5 points, 8.9 rebounds, and 2.6 assists. On July 8, 2018, Randle signed a one-year contract with the New Orleans Pelicans. In one season with the Pelicans (2018-19), Randle averaged 30.6 minutes, 21.4 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 3.1 assists. On July 8, 2019, Randle signed as a free agent with the Knicks. Through five seasons with the Knicks (2019-24), Randle is averaging 35.3 minutes, 22.6 points, 9.9 rebounds, and 4.7 assists and had led the Knicks to three playoff appearances since he has joined the organization. Randle was awarded the 2020-21 NBA Most Improved player award. This season (2023-24), Randle was selected to his third NBA All-Star game.

Julius Randle played college basketball for the University of Kentucky (2013–2014), where he earned SEC Freshman of the Year and All-SEC First Team honors en route to an NCAA Championship game appearance in his lone season with the Wildcats.
