The Orlando Magic agreed to a contract extension with center Wendell Carter Jr. on Monday. Per multiple reports, the deal is for three years and $59 million, which will keep him with the team through the 2028-29 season and includes a team option for that final season, per ESPN’s Tim Bontemps.

Carter averaged 11 points on 52.5% shooting in 55 games last season to help the Magic reach the postseason. Carter, the No. 7 pick in the 2018 NBA draft, is set to make $12 million this season.

The 6-foot-10 Carter played one season at Duke before he was selected by Chicago. The Magic acquired him from the Bulls on March 25, 2021. He has averaged 12.5 points and 8.5 rebounds in 315 career games.
Orlando was busy in the offseason, signing Jonathan Isaac and Franz Wagner to extensions while also bringing in free-agent guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope. The team won 47 games last season and is hoping to reach the playoffs for a second straight season.
