The Denver Nuggets got reigning Kia MVP Nikola Jokic some additional help in the front court, while the Phoenix Suns added to their backcourt depth.

In a Draft-night swap, Denver acquired the rights to the No. 22 pick DaRon Holmes II from Phoenix for No. 28 pick Ryan Dunn, the No. 56 pick in the 2024 Draft and second-round picks in 2026 and 2031.

Nuggets get:

Suns get:

  • Ryan Dunn (28th pick)
  • 56th overall pick
  • 2026 second-round pick
  • 2031 second-round pick

Holmes was one of the most proficient scorers in the nation at Dayton and posted 20.4 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2.6 assists and 2.1 blocks per game last season. At 6-foot-9, he can offer value to Denver in the pick-and-roll game as he can shoot the ball, finish near the rim and defend multiple positions.

Last season, veteran DeAndre Jordan served as one of Jokic’s primary backups, with Zeke Nnaji also filling into that rotation. Nnaji got a contract extension last summer, but Jordan is an unrestricted free agent this summer and the addition of Holmes provides insurance for Denver should it opt to not re-sign Jordan.

Dunn will give Phoenix some youth and defensive talent on the wings. The 6-foot-6 guard posted 8.1 ppg, 6.9 rpg, 2.3 bpg and 1.3 spg last season and is known as a strong rebounder and defender. He’ll join a Phoenix backcourt that includes Bradley Beal, Devin Booker and Grayson Allen and should be able to compete for minutes as a reserve in that group.
