Game Recap: Phoenix Suns 90, San Antonio Spurs 55

LAS VEGAS — The Phoenix Suns defeated the San Antonio Spurs, 90-55, in Las Vegas Summer League at Thomas and Mack Center on Friday.

Phoenix was the far superior team in the regular season of the Summer League and that was evident in this 35-point victory. The second quarter was decisive, with the Suns outscoring the Spurs, 29-9. San Antonio never got the game within an 11-point margin from there, as Phoenix cruised to an easy win, leading by at least 20 points for the whole of the fourth quarter. Rebounding was the difference, as the Suns won that battle, 47-27. The Spurs hit just 31.4 percent from the field and 20 percent from three-point range while the Suns connected on 51.6 percent from the field and 40.7 percent from long range. In addition, Phoenix out-assisted San Antonio, 20-11.

The Spurs (1-4) had just one player reach double figures in scoring, as Maverick Rowan provided 11 points and two rebounds off the bench. Trey McKinney-Jones finished with seven points, two rebounds and two assists. No player on the roster had more than six rebounds or four assists either.

The Suns (4-1) leading scorer came off the bench, as Javonte Green led the bench with 20 points, five rebounds and two steals on 8-of-11 shooting. Shaquille Harrison collected 13 points, six rebounds, seven assists and three blocks. Davon Reed accumulated 11 points, five rebounds and four assists. Jack Cooley finished with 10 points, nine rebounds, two steals and two blocks while Alec Peters provided 17 points, four rebounds and two steals.
