Report: Spurs' Stephon Castle (wrist) out for remainder of Summer League

San Antonio's impressive rookie guard scores 22 points in his only appearance at NBA 2K25 Summer League in Las Vegas.

In his only season at UConn, Stephon Castle averaged 11.1 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.9 assists while shooting 47.2% from the field.

San Antonio Spurs rookie guard Stephon Castle is out for the remainder of NBA 2K25 Summer League in Las Vegas after spraining his right wrist during Saturday’s win over the Portland Trail Blazers, according to Tom Orsborn of the San Antonio Express-News.

Castle finished Friday’s game with 22 points, five rebounds and four assists in a showdown against his former UConn teammate Donovan Clingan.

The Spurs believe it’s a minor injury, but they aren’t taking any chances with the No. 4 overall pick, who will likely serve as a key player off the bench to begin the 2024-25 season.

Though he’s only played a handful of games in Summer League, Castle has impressed early on, scoring 12 points in his debut followed by 18 points, six rebounds and five assists against China.

In his sole year at UConn last season, Castle averaged 11.1 points and helped lead the Huskies to a second consecutive national title. At just 19 years old, he has plenty of time to continue developing and fine-tuning his game.
