Knicks' RJ Barrett, Obi Toppin enter NBA's Health and Safety Protocols

The frontcourt players missed Sunday's home game against the Bucks.

RJ Barrett is averaging 15.1 points over 25 games with New York this season.

New York Knicks forward/guard RJ Barrett and forward Obi Toppin have both entered the NBA’s Health and Safety Protocols, the team announced on Sunday. Barrett and Toppin missed Sunday’s game against the Bucks, which the Knicks lost 112-97.

The NBA’s Health and Safety Protocols require players to be sidelined at least 10 days or record two negative tests in a 24-hour period before they can resume basketball activities.

Barrett, the former No. 3 overall pick in the 2019 draft, is averaging 15.1 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.1 assists over 25 games this season. Toppin, picked No. 8 overall in 2020, is a key reserve for the Knicks and is averaging 8.7 ppg and 3.9 rpg this season.

The Knicks (12-15) are currently the 12th seed in the Eastern Conference standings.
