Report: Atlanta Hawks discussing changes to front office

After reports surfaced that the Atlanta Hawks would be parting ways with their general manager Wes Wilcox, the team released a statement stating there are no changes to announce at this time.

“Hawks leadership is undergoing a period of evaluation and looking at how basketball operations works best. There are no changes to report at this time and any reports indicating otherwise are inaccurate.”

In an interview a few weeks ago, Hawks majority owner Anthony Ressler told the Atlanta Journal Constitution he did not forsee the Hawks making any changes to their front office structure. Mike Budenholzer remains the team’s coach and President of Basketball Operations, though The Vertical’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported on Wednesday that Budenholzer has been discussing dropping the latter role.

Wilcox was promoted to the role of general manager in the summer of 2015, and the Hawks went a combined 91-73 during his tenure.

The Hawks have several decisions facing them this summer, but none as important as what to do with Paul Millsap, who could opt out of his contract and become a free agent.
