The New Orleans Pelicans announced today that guard CJ McCollum has been diagnosed with small pneumothorax in his right lung after medical imaging was taken Sunday morning. Additional examination will be performed in the next 48 hours to determine the progress of healing.
This is the second time in McCollum’s NBA career that he’s suffered a collapsed right lung. In 2021, he missed 17 games over six weeks due to the injury.
McCollum, 32, is averaging 21.7 points, 4.8 rebounds and 5.7 assists with the Pelicans in 2023-24.
