METAIRIE, La. (AP) — The New Orleans Pelicans have signed shooting guard Anthony Brown from the NBA Development League.
The 6-foot-7 Brown, whose signing was announced Monday, began this season playing for the Erie BayHawks, who selected him first overall in the 2016 NBA D-League draft.
Brown appeared in three games for Erie, averaging 29.3 points on 56 percent shooting, including 65 percent from 3-point range, along with 4.3 rebounds and 4.3 assists in 41.5 minutes per game.
The former Stanford player joined the NBA as a 2015 second-round draft pick by the Los Angeles Lakers. He appeared in 29 games for the Lakers last season, averaging 4.0 points and 2.4 rebounds in 20.6 minutes per game.
The Pelicans play at Atlanta on Tuesday night. On Sunday, New Orleans released shooting guard Archie Goodwin.
