The Houston Rockets defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder, 105-92, at Thomas & Mack Center on Tuesday in the 2023 NBA Summer League.

The Rockets looked dominant in the first half, and that was enough to get the job done against the Thunder, as they won the first quarter 34-31 and backed that up with a 28-15 second quarter. Aided by a 16-point lead at halftime, the Rockets cruised to victory despite losing the second half 43-46.

Trevor Hudgins paved the way for the Rockets and was their leading scorer with 26 points, seven assists and three rebounds, while Jermaine Samuels added 19 points, four assists and two rebounds. Matthew Mayer had a 19-point, 10-rebound double-double off the bench, and Cam Whitmore finished with a 16-point outing that included eight rebounds, three assists and three steals.

KJ Williams was the best player for the Thunder on Tuesday, putting up 19 points and 13 rebounds, while Keyontae Johnson also had 19 points coming off the bench. Jahmi’us Ramsey had 11 points off the bench, Caleb McConnell grabbed 10 rebounds despite not starting and Jaden Shackelford had a balanced output with 16 points, four assists, three rebounds and three steals.

The Thunder return to action Wednesday versus the Indiana Pacers, while Houston faces the Golden State Warriors on Thursday.
