NBA 2K23 Summer League: Tyrese Martin helps Hawks hang on, take down Heat

Atlanta's second-round pick impresses on Tuesday, scoring a game-high 21 points along with 6 boards against Miami.

The Atlanta Hawks defeated the Miami Heat, 95-88, in the NBA 2K23 Summer League at Thomas & Mack Center on Tuesday.

While there were six lead changes in this game, Atlanta held the lead for all but a few minutes. In fact, they got their lead up to 19 points at times and led by at least five points for the final 15 minutes of play. They outscored Miami 23-17 in the first quarter and 28-21 in the third quarter to take control of this game. The Hawks shot 54 percent from the field and 44 percent from three-point range while holding the Heat to 38 percent from the field and 33 percent from long range. Atlanta also out-assisted Miami 15-7 while outscoring them in the paint 52-36.

The Heat (1-1) were led by Javonte Smart, amassing 19 points, three rebounds and three assists. He was the only player with more than one assist. Bryson Williams finished with 11 points, four rebounds and two blocks. Kyle Allman Jr. led the bench with 14 points and two boards.

The Hawks (1-2) were led by Tyrese Martin, who tallied 21 points and six rebounds. Chaundee Brown Jr. collected 18 points and five rebounds. Joel Ajayi had nine points and eight boards, while Chris Clemons led the bench with 15 points and six rebounds.

On deck for Miami is a matchup with the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday. As for Atlanta, they return to action on Thursday against the San Antonio Spurs.
