Marko Simonovic scored 27 points and added 13 rebounds as the Chicago Bulls defeated the Dallas Mavericks 100-99 on Day 2 of the NBA 2K23 Summer League at Thomas & Mack Center on Friday.

The Bulls got off to a strong start and grabbed the lead following the first quarter by a 21-17 score, but the Mavericks responded in the second quarter and grabbed control of the contest with a 30-12 score. However, the Mavericks wouldn’t be able to keep that intensity going and couldn’t take advantage of their 14-point lead.

Chicago outscored Dallas in the third (25-17) and fourth (32-26) quarters, forcing overtime. Chicago also won overtime by a 10-9 score, and Simonovic was the hero, as he drained the game-winning free throw with 0.7 seconds left on the clock.

Aside from Simonovic scoring 27 points, Malcolm Hill posted 18 points and six rebounds for Chicago, while Javon Freeman-Liberty recorded 11 points. Meanwhile, the Mavericks only had two players scoring in double digits, as both Jaden Hardy and A.J. Lawson posted 28-point efforts.

The Bulls play again Sunday against the New York Knicks, while the Mavericks will take the court Monday against the Utah Jazz.
