The City of Angels has been transformed into the City of Dreams with the 2023-24 Los Angeles Lakers City Edition uniforms.
When the Lakers arrived in the city, they knew who they were and what they were made of–already with five championships under their belt from their time in Minneapolis. The uniforms portray the evolution of the Lakers identity.
The uniform tells a story of what the Lakers have become. The black uniform signifies when they first arrived to L.A., they didn’t know who they were going to be.
The Los Angeles triangle wordmark is a throwback from early basketball days, which the team repped as they first started playing on the west coast in the 60s. Also tying in past elements, the numbers are in the same style as the ones that were on their jerseys from 1999-2017.
Laid out on the belt buckle is LAL. This is synonymous with the city as well as the acronym “Leave Your Legacy.” In addition to this, the official partial logo is on the short panels to learn to embrace addition in change, not departure.
