The Memphis Grizzlies defeated the Brooklyn Nets, 91-84, in the MGM Resorts Summer League at Cox Pavilion on Monday.

There were 10 lead changes in what was a closely contested battle, with six of those coming in a back-and-forth fourth quarter. Memphis ended the game on a 21-10 run across the final 5:30 to pull away for the victory.

The Grizzlies’ starters dominated the game, outscoring the Nets’ starters 77-50. Memphis also recorded 17 assists to 15 turnovers while Brooklyn had just 10 assists to 18 turnovers. Veteran guard Brandon Knight was guilty of a team-high five turnovers.

Second-year guard Desmond Bane led the Grizzlies with 32 points (six 3PM), two rebounds, four assists and two steals. Ex-Michigan State standout Xavier Tillman tallied 15 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and three steals. Killian Tillie totaled 20 points, two rebounds and three steals. John Konchar scored just three points, but tallied 13 rebounds and four assists.

First-round pick Cameron Thomas was Brooklyn’s leading scorer, despite coming off the bench. The LSU product went for 19 points and two assists in 25 minutes. Quinndary Weatherspoon led the starters with 15 points and four assists. Alize Johnson amassed 13 points and seven boards, while Reggie Perry had six points, 12 rebounds and two assists.

Both teams return to action on Wednesday, with Brooklyn matching up against the Bucks and Memphis facing the Heat.
