Utah's All-Star guard will miss Monday's game in San Antonio and Wednesday's game in Portland.

Donovan Mitchell dug deep for 33 points in a Christmas Day victory over the Mavericks.

Utah Jazz guard Donovan Mitchell provided a gritty performance on Christmas Day, leading the Jazz to victory over Dallas, scoring 33 points despite apparent physical discomfort. The source of that was revealed Sunday as a left low back strain, with Utah listing Mitchell out of Monday’s game in San Antonio (8:30 ET, NBA League Pass).

The two-time All-Star, averaging 25.4 points, 3.8 rebounds and 5.0 assists, will stay home for the entirety of the upcoming two-game trip. Additionally, Mitchell will also be sidelined for Wednesday’s game at Portland (10 ET, NBA League Pass). The Jazz return home for a New Year’s Eve matchup with the Timberwolves (9 ET, NBA League Pass).

The Jazz are 23-9 and have the No. 3 record in both the NBA and the Western Conference, trailing the Phoenix Suns (26-6) and NBA-best Golden State Warriors (27-6). Utah has won three straight games and is 13-3 against Western Conference opponents this season.
