The Pistons entered the 2024 NBA Draft with the No. 5 and No. 53 overall picks.

No. 5 pick: Ron Holland II

From Duncanville, Texas, Holland was the Gatorade Player of the Year in 2022-23 en route to landing a spot on Team USA for the 2023 Nike Hoop Summit and being named a 2023 McDonald’s All-American. He was a consensus five-star prospect and ESPN’s No. 2 player in the class of 2023.

Holland opted to forego college and played for the G League Ignite in 2023-24, but he made only 14 appearances before undergoing surgery to repair a tendon rupture in his right thumb. He’s expected to make a full recovery and be healthy for the NBA’s Summer League. Holland averaged 20.6 points, 6.6 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 2.5 steals with 44.3/24.0/75.7 shooting splits during his brief G League action.

At 6-foot-8, Holland has elite fluidity for his size. His jumper looks smooth, and he can pull up from anywhere on the court and get his shot off, but his shooting percentages need to improve. He’s not a natural point guard, but he draws plenty of attention and is willing to find the open teammate. Defensively, Holland has all the tools, but he’s a work in progress on both ends of the floor. — RotoWire. Go deeper.

No. 37 pick: Bobi Klintman

Klintman emerged down the stretch at Wake Forest during the 2022-23 season, ultimately earning an opportunity to join the Cairns Taipans of the Australian NBL. Prior to initially coming to America, Klintman was raised in Sweden and climbed the ranks of domestic pro leagues as a successful youth player. He then came stateside for a year at prestigious Sunrise Christian Academy in Kansas prior to beginning his college tenure at Wake.

His recently concluded tenure in Australia is high-quality professional experience, so his production should be viewed in a slightly different light than his draft peers playing collegiate ball in America. Klintman averaged 9.7 points, 4.8 rebounds, 0.7 assists and 0.8 steals while shooting 44% from the field across 23 appearances with Cairns. — RotoWire. Go deeper.
