Tuesday’s Best WNBA Picks
(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)
New York Liberty (-7.5) @ Chicago Sky (+240) | O/U 165 (-110/-110)
I may sound like a broken record with Marina Mabrey but in this case, this number is simply too low. Mabrey has surpassed 26.5 PRA in five of her seven games this season. Teammates Angel Reese and Chennedy Carter may be hogging the headlines and postgame game content but on the court, Mabrey is quietly leading the Sky in scoring (17.0) and assists (4.7). Those numbers already put her at 21.7 Points+Assists on average with rebounds needing to cover the other six. Luckily for us, Mabrey averages 6.9 boards which means in total she averages 28.6 PRA! This is exactly why this number is just too low, even against a team like the Liberty, as this game is inside the friendly confines of Wintrust Arens where the home crown will be helping her cook.
I’m not sure if it was her coming up just short (26 PRA) of this number in her last game, a one-point loss to the porous Fever defense. Maybe Vegas doesn’t trust Mabrey’s 6.9 rebounding average which is more than double her career average (3.3). She has pulled down at least six rebounds in five of seven games this season, topping out at nine twice, including the last game, so that 6.9 number is as real as any other number this early in the season.
The proverbial record remains stuck for now: Mabrey…Mabrey…Mabrey
WNBA Pick: Marina Mabrey Over 26.5 Points+Rebounds+Assists (-120)
Phoenix Mercury (+260) @ Seattle Storm (-7.5) | O/U 167 (-110/-110)
Cloud averages 24.6 PRA and has surpassed this 23.5 number In six of nine games this season. This number makes even less sense offering almost even money. This pick offers insane value when you consider that Cloud has dropped 21 points alone in two of her last three games as well as totaling double-digit assists in four of her last seven contests.
The value comes from the Mercury being on the road in Seattle as well as her volatility, as in the three games in which she went under this total, she has averaged 16 PRA. These two variables don’t worry me tonight, especially with the relative value being offered.
Tonight, back the Cloud over the Storm.
WNBA Pick: Natasha Cloud Over 23.5 Points+Rebounds+Assists (-105)
