Wizards vs. Spurs Odds & Picks: Streaks Come To An End

Ryan Noonan of Betsperts and 4for4Bets is looking for the Spurs to end the Wizards' five-game winning streak tonight in San Antonio.

These two clubs come into Monday night heading in opposite directions. The Wizards are playing their best basketball of the season, winners of three straight on the road and five straight overall. The Spurs have a streak of their own going, but unfortunately, it’s not as rosy. San Antonio has lost five straight and 10 of their past 11. That reads poorly, especially since the Spurts are the side that I’m backing.

Wizards vs. Spurs Best Bets

Spurs +6 (-110, FanDuel)

San Antonio coach Gregg Popovich has this team playing hard. His team is young and learning on the fly, and we’re seeing positive steps forward for their core contributors, including Keldon Johnson, Devin Vassell, and Jeremy Sochan, who’s coming off a career-high 30-point performance in Saturday’s overtime loss against the Suns.

The Wizards have been the beneficiaries of some terrible opponent three-point shooting performances of late. Now we can credit that to an improved defensive effort, but I’m also comfortable crediting variance because opponents are shooting 26.4% from three against Washington over the past five games, and that’s about 10% off the league-average rate. That makes a big difference when a few of Washington’s recent wins have been by 1-5 points.

This is Washington’s fourth straight road game, and I think the Wizards are capable of looking past the Spurs in the midst of this hot streak. I’ll take the points.

Risk: 1.1 units on FanDuel to win 1 unit. (Playable to -115)
