The NBA schedule tonight features a few great matchups where I expect the stars to shine. There are a few player props that have caught my eye and we’ll be looking to cash in.
We’ll be using the Action Labs Player Prop tool to compare our NBA projections to the props posted at a variety of sportsbooks. Below, I have laid out three prop bets that I’m playing, the case for each bet and the best books to find odds on those player props.
NBA Player Props & Picks
Kevin Durant, Over 29.5 Points (-110)
Nets vs. Hornets | Nets -3 |
Time | TV | 7 p.m. ET | League Pass |
Best Book | DraftKings |
Kevin Durant has scored 30 or more points in both games he has played since his return from injury. Tonight, the Brooklyn Nets head to Charlotte to take on the Hornets and I believe this is going to be a matchup where Durant can take advantage once again. The Hornets don’t possess the size or defensive player to contain Durant’s ability to score from any spot on the floor.
Earlier this season against the Hornets, Durant scored 38 points on 17-of-24 shooting from the field. Despite the Hornets having a top-10 defensive rating over the last five games, they have not faced a player with scoring ability of Durant.
Additionally, the Nets are riding a four-game losing streak and slipping in the Eastern Conference standings, I expect to see a desperate Nets team tonight, led by Durant. I will ride the hot hand here and bet on Durant to score at least 30 tonight.
Giannis Antetokounmpo, Over 12.5 Rebounds (-105)
Bucks vs. Thunder | Bucks -13.5 |
Time | TV | 8 p.m. ET | League Pass |
Best Book | DraftKings |
The Thunder have struggled on the defensive side of the basketball without their top two defenders, Lu Dort and Josh Giddey, who are sidelined by injury. Both players will be out again tonight against the Bucks.
Over the last five games, the Thunder rank 25th in opponent rebounding, according to NBA Advanced State. Additionally, according to Hashtag Basketball, over the last seven days, the Thunder are allowing the center position to grab 20.2 rebounds per game. Giannis Antetokounmpo has grabbed 13 or more rebounds in five straight games for the Bucks.
Furthermore, in a prior matchup this season against the Thunder, Giannis grabbed 19 rebounds in 36 minutes of playing time. The lack of front-court options for the Thunder to contain Antetokounmpo should enable him to have another big rebounding night. I will take the Over 12.5 rebounds.
Brandon Ingram, Over 5.5 Assists (-130)
Pelicans vs. Grizzlies | Grizzlies -5.5 |
Time | TV | 7:30 p.m. ET | TNT |
Best Book | PointsBet |
Since the trade for C.J. McCollum, the Pelicans look like a completely different team. Adding another veteran and scoring guard next to Brandon Ingram has paid dividends. The Pelicans are playing .500 basketball since acquiring McCollum, but the biggest surprise has been the uptick in assists per game for Ingram.
The connection and chemistry between Ingram and McCollum seems to have picked up quickly. In fact, Ingram has dished out six or more assists in six straight games for the Pelicans. The Pelicans tonight will visit the Grizzlies, who according to NBA Advanced Stats rank 2th0 in opponent assists per game over the last five games.
I expect success to continue tonight. Ingram should have plenty of opportunities to distribute, especially in a game that has a total currently sitting at 232 points.
