Top 3 NBA Betting Picks for Wednesday, October 20th (2021)

The 2021-22 NBA regular season has officially arrived as fans and bettors alike can look forward to packed stadiums and raucous crowds once again. While the league has left it up to the states to mandate vaccines, players who test positive will be treated differently whether they’ve received the poke or not.

With much of the league having received it, the product should look as close to normal as we’ve seen since before the pandemic began.

Let’s jump into tonight’s slight to see where the value remains.

1. Hornets -2 | -110 at DraftKings Sportsbook

The (second) Rick Carlisle era begins in Indiana on Wednesday night as the veteran head coach begins his second stint with the club as he looks to bring them back from the basement they found themselves in last season. Unfortunately for Carlisle and the Pacer’s faithful, they begin this season like they ended last; largely depleted, with injuries keeping TJ Warren and Caris LeVert out of the opening day lineup.

For the young upstart Hornets, reigning ROY LaMelo Ball returns and will be winged by a new re-signed Terry Rozier in the backcourt. I like for the home Hornets to come out hot behind what should be a raucous arena in Charlotte.

2. Wizards +3 | -110 at DraftKings Sportsbook

After a pandemic year of playing in Tampa, the Raptors return home this season and begin their first campaign since many of their young fans can remember without Kyle Lowry. They’ll also be without Pascal Siakam to start the season, as he recovers from shoulder surgery.

For the Wizards, it’s full steam ahead with their new lineup as they welcome in Spencer Dinwiddie, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Montrezl Harrell, and most notably Kyle Kuzma. From what I saw this preseason, much of the chemistry has already begun forming and I like for us to see that out of the regular season gates.

 3. Suns -6 | -110 at DraftKings Sportsbook

Before stumbling down the stretch losing Jamal Murray with a knee injury in April, the Nuggets looked poised to compete for the NBA title yet again. Then came the playoff sweep (shellacking) to the Suns.

Not only will the Nuggets still be without Murray to start the season, but that entire Suns team is back as well as acquire JaVale McGee (from Denver). Look for them to start last season right where they left off and secure the home cover in this one.
