Thunder vs. 76ers Prediction

Pick: Over 225.5

Thunder Betting Outlook

The Thunder are coming off a hard-fought win over the Knicks that saw Shai Gilgeous-Alexander hit a game-winner.

OKC’s offense has been solid and should continue to be efficient when it takes on a 76ers defense that ranks 19th in the NBA since the All-Star break. Philadelphia doesn’t have a lot of great matchups for Gilgeous-Alexander outside of Nicolas Batum, so I’d expect SGA to have success getting to his spots.

The Thunder haven’t really missed a beat offensively, ranking sixth in offensive rating since the break. They should have no issues carving up this weak 76ers defense that lacks both size on the wings and rim protection at the center spot.

76ers Betting Outlook

The 76ers have been wildly inconsistent and just downright bad since losing Joel Embiid, and this is not a great matchup for them in my opinion.

The one thing Philadelphia has done well defensively is force turnovers, forcing the second-highest rate of turnovers (15.7%) in the NBA over its last 20 games. However, they may struggle to create turnovers against a Thunder offense that ranks seventh in offensive turnover rate (12.4%).

Additionally, the 76ers should struggle to score in the paint here as they take on a Thunder defense that ranks fourth in rim FG% allowed. The 76ers are a bottom-three rim efficiency offense since the All-Star break, so I wouldn’t expect them to have any sort of interior game.

Philadelphia’s best chance to pull off an upset will be to get hot from 3, since the 76ers rank top 10 in 3-point attempt rate and the Thunder rank just 18th in opponent 3-point attempt rate allowed. That might be the 76ers’ only path to victory considering I don’t envision many stops on the defensive end.

Thunder vs. 76ers Picks, Odds

At this current line of 225.5, I would love to back the Over. I expect the 76ers’ offense to have success behind the 3-point line here. I wanted to back the 76ers as ‘dogs and fade this Thunder team, but I just can’t trust this Philadelphia defense to get enough stops against this elite OKC offense. I’d rather take the Over as I think both offenses have a path to efficiency here.

Pick: Over 225.5
