When you reach Game 6 of any NBA playoff series, coaches will tighten their rotations to lean more on their stars. And we’re now finally seeing that in Memphis, where Grizzlies coach Taylor Jenkins stuck with his deep rotation this season.
Desmond Bane had a fantastic sophomore campaign, averaging 18.2 points in a shade under 30 minutes per game. While the sticker value of this line will seem high, some simple math will yield Bane’s 36-minute scoring average to be 21.9 points.
Playing time is the key input here because in the last three games, Bane has played 40, 35 (while losing some due to foul trouble) and a whopping 45 minutes. He’s scored 25+ points in each of those games, making him 12 of 15 to the over on this line when seeing at least 34 minutes of action this season.
With the Timberwolves’ continued defensive focus on stopping Ja Morant, Bane has excelled in his individual matchups against D’Angelo Russell and Anthony Edwards. Couple that with excellent shooting numbers on the road this season (including 47% from long range), and Bane should be in for quite the game.
I have the TCU product projected at 25 points in 40 minutes tonight.
Pick: Desmond Bane Over 20.5 Points (-120 at Caesars) | Playable up to 21.5.
