This Sunday features a small five-game NBA slate starting at 7pm ET, but we still have the best NBA player props today, featuring a pick for a bet on Victor Wembanyama.
Even with a few potential blowouts on the schedule, there are a couple intriguing matchups to take advantage of from a player props perspective that we will break down in this article. These two player props feature two young and promising prospects. Let’s break it down!
NBA Player Props Today
Hawks vs. Bucks
Jalen Johnson Over 8.5 Rebounds + Assists (-130)
Spread | Bucks -6.5 |
Time | TV | 7 p.m. ET | NBA League Pass |
Best Line | FanDuel |
Coming off the bench, Jalen Johnson has been one of the few bright spots for the Hawks through their first two games. He has averaged 16 points, eight rebounds and two assists in just under 30 minutes per game.
The third-year forward out of Duke has also been a catalyst defensively by leading the Hawks in blocks and also contributing 1.5 steals per game. He will be one of the several Hawks defenders trying to stop Giannis Antetokounmpo tonight.
Johnson’s over 8.5 total rebounds and assists prop stands out as he has shown the ability to get over this line on rebounds alone. Our NBA Props Projections have Johnson projected for 11.3 rebounds and assists tonight, which is well over this prop line.
The Hawks are 6.5-point underdogs on the road against the Bucks, but this total is set at 238.5 points, which is the highest of all six games today. Expect plenty of opportunities for Johnson to reach this over in a fast-paced game.
The Bucks allowed 25 assists and 39 total rebounds in their season opener against the 76ers. They are also playing without Khris Middleton, which should keep this game more competitive and lead to more favorable matchups for Johnson.
Leading the second unit, Johnson has looked fantastic. With him projected to play around 30 minutes again, the third-year forward is in a great spot to hit this over.
Pick: Johnson Over 8.5 REB + AST (-130)
Spurs vs. Clippers
Victor Wembanyama Under 3.5 Steals + Blocks (-120)
Spread | Clippers -9.5 |
Time | TV | 9 p.m. ET | NBA TV |
Best Line | FanDuel |
Victor Wembanyama displayed his upside last game by stuffing the stat sheet with 21 points, 12 rebounds, three steals and three blocks in an overtime win against the Rockets.
However, his playing time will likely fluctuate throughout the year under Gregg Popovich, especially if he deals with foul trouble like in the season opener. The Spurs are in this for the long game and won’t overextend their rookie sensation in a difficult matchup late in October.
As a near double-digit road underdog, it wouldn’t be surprising if they limited Wemby.
The Clippers, when healthy, are one of the best and most talented teams in the league. They can shut down teams defensively and will have a game plan for Wembanyama.
On offense, the Clippers will need to be cognizant of Wembanyama’s length, but their veteran scorers should take advantage of the rookie being young and undisciplined.
This isn’t the Rockets, and Wembanyama will have a difficult time capturing steals and blocks against this experienced Clippers team. Last year the Clippers allowed only 4.2 blocks per game, which was the 10th-best in the league.
There are too many risks in this spot for Wembanyama when it comes to both the matchup and potential foils that taking his under on total steals and blocks is a great value.
Pick: Wembanyama Under 3.5 Stocks (-120)
