How Clippers and 76ers NBA Title Odds Changed After James Harden's Trade

Read about how the NBA Championship odds have changed after the Clippers acquired James Harden from the 76ers.

While everyone was sleeping, the Philadelphia 76ers and the Los Angeles Clippers were dealing.

At around 2 a.m. ET on Tuesday morning, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski sent out a tweet to break the news of a blockbuster deal in the NBA.

10-time NBA All-Star James Harden was traded to the Clippers. The 76ers sent Harden, P.J. Tucker and Filip Petrusev while the Clippers dealt Marcus Morris, Robert Covington, Nic Batum and KJ Martin. The Clippers also threw in a 2028 unprotected first-round pick, two second-round, a pick swap and an additional first-rounder from the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The 76ers took a tumble on the odds board as the Clippers rose up the odds board after landing the 2018 NBA MVP.

The Sixers were +1700 to win the NBA Championship at DraftKings when the trade happened, they are down to +1800 at DraftKings and all the way down to +2800 at FanDuel. The 76ers were +2000 last Tuesday at BetMGM, they are currently +2800.

The Clippers have gone from an NBA Finals outsider to a possible contender. Last Tuesday, the Clippers were +2000 at BetMGM. They are now +1300. The Clippers were +1700 to win the NBA Championship at DraftKings when the trade happened, they are now +1200 at DraftKings.

It was inevitable that the Sixers were going to trade Harden but it likely had a bigger impact on the NBA than most people expected.
