Friday's WNBA Player Props: How to Bet Natasha Cloud, Sabrina Ionescu

Action Network contributor Bryan Fonseca breaks down his top WNBA player props for Friday, July 28, including a pick for Natasha Cloud.

Last week’s WNBA player prop picks went 2-for-2, then 0-for-3, followed by 3-for-3 this past Tuesday.

We’re looking to break this trend for the better, but if you decide to fade me, I understand.

Here are a couple WNBA player prop picks I really like today, as we bet on recent assist trends to come out a net positive.

WNBA Player Props & Picks

Minnesota Lynx vs.

New York Liberty

Sabrina Ionescu, Over 5.5 Assists (-135)

Spread Liberty -14.5

This worked out last time we took Sabrina Ionescu’s over, as she’s coming off a 12-assist performance. Ionescu’s has hit this over in five consecutive contests and in seven of her last eight games, as she’s averaged eight assists per game during that stretch.

Her playmaking and ball distribution are up, as is her overall effectiveness as the Liberty’s floor general during this four-game winning streak. Not only has this boosted her assist numbers, but the Liberty have also won eight of nine games.

The value here might not be amazing, but given this recent trend, it looks like a bet that should hit yet again. I’m expecting this play to rise up to 6.5 assists by tipoff at most books. If this line reaches 6.5 assists, and we’re looking at a +106 or a +110 price for the over, I’d still play it.

Ionescu has dished out seven or more assists in three of her last four games, and with her assists trending upward over a healthy sample, I don’t mind betting over 6.5 assists at plus-money at all.

Washington Mystics vs.

Dallas Wings

Natasha Cloud, Over 5.5 assists (-135)

Spread Wings -9

Natasha Cloud, similarly to Ionescu, has been on an assist tear, hence this number being at -135. Cloud is averaging seven assists over her last nine games and has gone over 5.5 assists in seven of her last nine contests, including in back-to-back games.

Against the Mystics, Cloud has recorded eight and six assists, respectively, in two games. I like Ionescu up to 6.5 assists as an over, but I’m not sure if I’d say the same for Cloud.

As gifted a playmaker as the WNBA Champion has been, she’s gone over 6.5 assists once in her last four games and just twice in her last seven. This seems to be the sweet spot, and if up to 6.5 assists, it’s a stay-away for me.
