The Los Angeles Clippers defeated the Memphis Grizzlies Wednesday night, without Kawhi Leonard or Paul George, scoring 141 points in the process.
Can their offense erupt from beyond the arc once again in Memphis? Or will the Grizzlies get revenge on their home court?

Los Angeles Clippers
The Clippers defeated the Grizzlies on the back of a 36-point, 10-assist effort from Russell Westbrook. Westbrook took on a sizable 34% Usage Rate with Kawhi and Paul George out.
He performed admirably but should struggle a bit more with the return of Jaren Jackson Jr. tonight. Jackson is an elite rim-protector and will eliminate much of the offense Westbrook was able to generate in the paint.
The Clippers also managed to shoot a remarkable 60% from three on Wednesday night. Led by Robert Covington, Russ, and Bones Hyland combining to go 16-of-18 (89%) from deep. I think we can safely claim that Robert Covington and Westbrook will not repeat their perfect performance from deep so expect some negative regression tonight.
Overall, the Clippers shot 75.6% effectively from the field, their second-most efficient shooting night of the season. Anticipate some regression given the number of Grizzlies players returning to the floor tonight.
Memphis Grizzlies
Memphis should look much better defensively tonight as Jaren Jackson Jr, Desmond Bane, and John Konchar back in the lineup tonight.
Offensively, their process was sound as they took 70% of their shots either at the rim or from the short-midrange area of the floor according to Cleaning the Glass. They shot poorly on these looks and they also shot just 35.5% from three.
Expect positive regression with all of these key players returning to the lineup here tonight.
Clippers-Grizzlies Pick
Monitor the injury report as Kawhi Leonard’s status is still up in the air. Leonard is easily one of the most impactful players in the NBA as he has the eighth-highest Net Rating swing (+10.5) in the NBA this season.
If Leonard is unable to go I would posit value on the Grizzlies up to -8. Given the current line of Grizzlies -6, I would have to lean Grizzlies as we don’t know Leonard’s status for this one.
Pick: Memphis Grizzlies -5 |
