Cavaliers vs. Trail Blazers Preview: Blazers to Cover on the Road

Betsperts analyst Ron Klos previews the best bets for the Cavaliers vs the Trail Blazers.

The Cleveland Cavaliers will host the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday night at Rocket Mortgage Field House with tipoff set for 7:00 PM ET. The Cavaliers will look to close a perfect four-game homestand having won their previous three games by double digits, including Monday’s 114-102 victory over the Atlanta Hawks. Cleveland has won seven of its first eight home games, the team’s best start in its own building since the 2016-17 season, when the Cavs opened 9-1. The Blazers are looking to even their four-game trip at 1-1. Portland, which has dropped three straight and four of its past five games, lost in the opener of its trip Monday 119-111 against the Milwaukee Bucks. Portland will again be without star point guard Damian Lillard (calf strain). Caris LeVert and Kevin Love have been ruled out for Cleveland.

Cavaliers vs. Trail Blazers Best Bets

Trail Blazers +7.5 (-110 DraftKings)

While Cleveland has played very well of late, Portland is a very talented team, even without Lillard. Rookie Shaedon Sharpe has stepped up in his absence and has solid “per 40 minutes” averages this year of 17.2 points and 4.9 rebounds. The combination of Anfernee Simons and Jerami Grant gives the Blazers an excellent inside/out combination and each is averaging at least 20 points per game on the season thus far.

The Blazers have covered five games in a row on the road and are 8-1 ATS on the road this season. Cleveland has also struggled against teams from the Western Conference losing five in a row and going 1-4 ATS.

Risk: 1.1 units on DraftKings to win 1 unit. (Playable to -115)

Cavaliers vs. Trail Blazers Game Total Over 213.5 Points (-110 DraftKings)

Cleveland ranks fifth in the league in offensive efficiency and Portland is 14th. While neither team plays at a high pace, they are both in the upper half of the league in both Effective FG% and True Shooting rate. In the last 13 games these teams have met in Cleveland, the over is 10-3. With this game being tight throughout, expect this number to inch above the 213 mark.
