Rockets vs Magic Odds & Picks: Magic to Continue Solid Play

Betsperts analyst Ron Klos previews the Rockets vs Magic matchup.

The Houston Rockets will host the Orlando Magic on Wednesday night at the Toyota Center with tipoff set for 8:00 PM ET. Houston is coming off a 124-105 loss at home on Monday to the San Antonio Spurs. They are in the midst of a 7-game homestand and have lost their last two due to horrendous perimeter shooting. The Magic are 11-21 and have struggled with injuries all season. That will continue on Wednesday as Wendell Carter Jr., Gary Harris and Jalen Suggs continue to be sidelined. The return of Markelle Fultz and the emergence of Moritz Wagner have propelled Orlando forward over the past couple of weeks. The Magic had won six-straight games, including two straight wins over the dominant Celtics, before losing by one point at Atlanta on Monday.

Rockets vs Magic Best Bets

Magic +1 (-110 DraftKings)

As mentioned above, Orlando has been very well as of late winning six out of their last seven games. On the other side, the Rockets have lost three straight and seven of their past 11 games. For the Magic, Markelle Fultz is coming off one of the best games of his career and is averaging 13 points, 5 assists and 4 rebounds over his past eight games. He has combined with Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner, along with Cole Anthony to form a solid lineup. Moritz Wagner also continues to shine in place of the injured Carter Jr and has averaged 15 points and 7 rebounds in his last 10 games. The Magic are 4-1 ATS in their last five meetings in Houston. With the Rockets being one of the youngest teams in the league and struggling of late, I’ll side with the team with more momentum in the Magic.

Risk: 1.1 units on DraftKings to win 1 unit.

Rockets vs Magic Game Under 223.5 Points (-110 DraftKings)

The under is appealing here because both teams rank in the bottom half of pace and fast break points per game. Also, neither team has shot the ball well of late from the perimeter. At the same time, both teams have excellent rim defenders in the paint with Mo Bamba for the Magic and Alperen Sengun for the Rockets. I expect this to be more of a half-court grind with both teams continuing to struggle with their outside shooting.

Risk: 1.1 Units on DraftKings to win 1 unit. (Playable to 223)
