The 7-1 Cleveland Cavaliers hit the road to take on the 2-6 Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday afternoon. The Cavs look to extend their winning streak to eight in a row after losing their season opener.
The Cavaliers enter Sunday clicking offensively, ranking seventh in the Association in points per game at 116.5. They have also been elite defensively as they are second in scoring defense, allowing only 104.4 points per game.
The Lakers enter this contest with the 25th-ranked scoring offense as they are averaging 108.5 points per game. If there’s a bright spot, it’s their rebounding led by Anthony Davis’ 11 boards a contest. They look for a much needed victory in their fourth straight game at home.

Cavaliers vs. Lakers Same Game Parlay +176
Cleveland Cavaliers First-Quarter Moneyline (-152)
The Lakers have been plagued by slow starts as they are averaging 24.9 first-quarter points. This ranks 29th in the Association, trailed only by the Houston Rockets at 24.5 points per first quarter. Not only are the Lakers not putting up points early on, but they have also been vulnerable on the defensive end, allowing 30.5 first-quarter points per game. They are fresh off giving up 40 first-quarter points to the Utah Jazz on Friday night.
The same cannot be said for the Cavaliers, who average 30.4 first-quarter points per game. On the defensive end, they are surrendering an average of 27 points away from home, and I expect another strong showing on both ends of the court to open up the game against the Lakers.
LeBron James Over 6.5 Assists (-150)
The Lakers will need more scoring from LeBron James, who is really struggling as he is shooting just 43.1 percent from the floor and has gone a combined 0-12 from beyond the arc over the Lakers’ last two contests.
It doesn’t get any easier for James going up against a Cavaliers team ranked ninth in opponent 3-point percentage and fifth in opponent points from 3-pointers at 31.9 per game.
We will have to monitor the status of Anthony Davis closer to tip, but even if he does not suit up, James’ assist total is too low. He’s eclipsed 6.5 assists in five of his last six games and is in a good spot this afternoon.
Although this is a completely different Cavs team, last time these two squads met up on March 21, James logged 38 points, 10 rebounds and 12 assists over 41 minutes – these stats were without Davis in the lineup. Don’t expect numbers like this from James in this meeting, however the assist number looks to be set favorably low.
