Clippers 2022-23 Nike NBA City Edition Uniforms To Celebrate Drew League And Grassroots L.A. Basketball

Black uniforms feature custom Los Angeles wordmark and colorful mosaic design inspired by the Watts Towers

Los Angeles, CA – The LA Clippers have unveiled their 2022-23 Nike NBA City Edition uniforms, which celebrate and honor the Drew League and its role in L.A.’s basketball community and culture. A video detailing the jersey and its connection to the Drew League is available at www.clippers.com/cityedition.

The black City Edition uniforms feature a colorful mosaic design inspired by the iconic Watts Towers in South L.A., and the custom-designed Los Angeles wordmark across the jersey’s chest combines classic scripts from the Clippers and the Drew League. Green, a prominent color within the pro-am league, is used to line the inside bottom of the jersey and the league's motto, "No Excuse. Just Produce." is featured on the jock tag alongside the Drew League’s founding year, 1973, and the year it celebrates its 50th anniversary, 2023.

“Wow, being honored by the Clippers with a Drew League uniform is unbelievable. We’re so excited,” said Dino Smiley, Drew League CEO. “No Excuse. Just Produce.” is a motto that the Drew League lives by. It means that you can be aggressive, tough, and do everything you have to do between the lines, but outside of those lines you have to produce through community programs and service. There’s no team I can think of that does that more than the Clippers.”

The Drew League is based in South Central Los Angeles and known across the world for bringing community-driven, grassroots basketball to the forefront by creating an annual stage for amateur and professional players to celebrate their passion for the game. Clippers past and present have made notable Drew League appearances over the years, including current Clippers Paul George, John Wall, and Norm Powell and Head Coach Ty Lue. Among the more than 350 Clippers Community Courts renovated across Southern California are the indoor and outdoor courts at Drew Middle School, which are used for Jr. Drew games.

The Clippers will wear their new City Edition uniforms 20 times and debut them on Saturday, Nov. 12 when they take on the Brooklyn Nets at home. For home wear dates, the team will play on a City Edition-design court that features the Los Angeles wordmark and mosaic at center court. That day and on Tuesday, Feb. 14 vs. the Golden State Warriors, the Clippers will host City Edition Takeover Nights and honor the Drew League and its personalities, including Jr. Drew players, throughout the game.

The 2022-23 Nike NBA City Edition uniform and Nike City Edition apparel, including T-shirts and other gear, will go on sale today in the Clippers Fan Shop. An additional Drew League-branded merchandise collection will be released in February.
