Grizzlies forward Jaren Jackson Jr. out 2 weeks with right knee sprain

Memphis Grizzlies forward Jaren Jackson Jr. will be sidelined at least two weeks with a sprained right knee, the team announced.

Jackson Jr. sustained the injury during the second quarter of Friday’s loss against the Los Angeles Lakers. The 20-year-old went to contest a shot, came down awkwardly and did not return.

It was around this time last season when Jackson Jr. suffered a deep thigh bruise that caused him to miss the rest of the 2018-19 campaign. The difference now is Memphis remains in the thick of the playoff race and has the NBA’s toughest remaining schedule.

Jackson Jr. is the Grizzlies’ second leading scorer and averages 16.9 points to go along with 4.7 rebounds. Memphis currently owns a 28-28 record, sitting at eighth in the Western Conference.
