Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr announced that Stephen Curry will return to action Saturday in Detroit, reports Mark Medina of The San Jose Mercury News.
Curry, who has missed the Warriors’ last 10 games, will sit out Thursday’s game in Toronto, though Kerr added that Curry would have been available if it were a playoff game.
“He wants to play. He’s ready to play … He’s dying to play,” Kerr said.
Curry was disappointed by the decision but said he understands why it was made.

“We obviously have a lot of smart people that are taking care of us and trying to make sure we’re protected from ourselves in certain situations,” Curry said.
Curry, who has not played since Nov. 8 after injuring his groin in a home loss to the Milwaukee Bucks, returned to practice earlier this week.
Meanwhile, Draymond Green and Alfonzo McKinnie will also miss Thursday’s game against the Raptors. Green has missed nine of the past 11 games due to a sprained right toe. McKinnie has sat for the previous six contests because of a sore left foot.
